Over the past year, our organisation has delivered a diverse range of community and youth-focused projects aimed at promoting social inclusion, tackling disadvantage, and creating opportunities for personal growth. Through our Warm Hub, we have provided a welcoming space for members of the local community, including those facing homelessness or financial hardship, to access hot food, drinks, and companionship. This initiative has played a key role in easing the pressures of the cost-of-living crisis and fostering stronger community connections. We have also enriched cultural engagement by taking 75 young people to see the Michael Jackson Musical in partnership with Ignite, giving them access to an inspiring live arts experience that many would otherwise be unable to afford. Alongside this, our Backstage to Centre Stage project has offered workshops in vocal coaching, music production, and performance for children aged 8–16. Delivered at Rooks Heath School and Hatch End Hill School, and funded by The Harrow Change Makers, the programme has successfully boosted confidence, self-esteem, and peer-topeer support among participants. In collaboration with Snow Camp Charity and funded by the Peabody Community Foundation, we have provided apprenticeship-level training opportunities to young people, equipping them with valuable skills and qualifications to support future employment. Additionally, we supported four young artists, Young Kings, at the Cams Music Festival, where they performed, participated in interviews, and gained industry exposure. These initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to empowering individuals, building resilience, and creating positive pathways for the future.
We place young people at the heart of our decision-making. Our primary youth steering group, The Young Kings (aged 14–16), play a key role in shaping the direction of the CIC. They contribute ideas, provide feedback, and lead on social media marketing to help us connect with our community. Through ongoing discussions and consultation with The Young Kings, we identified a strong need for accessible activities and meals during the school holidays. As a result, we developed and delivered the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, offering six weeks of creative, social, and nutritional support for young people. In addition to youth-led input, we consult with community members, partner organisations, schools, and funders to ensure our work meets local needs. Feedback is gathered through informal conversations, structured surveys, and post-project reviews, allowing us to adapt our programmes and create meaningful, lasting impact.
During the year, directors did not receive any salary or wages. However, remuneration was provided in respect of inkind services to the value of £11,000. These services were directly related to the delivery of the CIC’s community projects and aligned with our social objectives. All remuneration was reviewed and approved by the board to ensure it was reasonable, transparent, and in the best interests of the community.
