  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover comprises the invoiced value of goods and services supplied by the company, net of Value Added Tax and trade discounts.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, are stated at cost or valuation less depreciation and any provision for impairment. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost or valuation of fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives on the following basis: Fixtures and Fittings at 25% straight line basis. Computer Equipment at 25% straight line basis

    Other accounting policies

    Planning and operating costs for the company's website are charged to the income statement as incurred.

Company activities and impact

We have raised awareness and supported families and individuals living with neurodiversity: intensity, super-sensitivity and hyper-reactivity, non-neuro typicality and OE (overexcitability as it is called in the psychological world), Duel and Multiple Exceptionality (DME), twice-exceptionality (2e) and high-ability. We raised awareness by: maintained a FaceBook page PowerWoods FaceBook page maintained a closed FaceBook group PowerWood Group for parents of neurodiverse children, continued to talk on social media on the FaceBook Page, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and published videos on YouTube Channel about intensity, super-sensitivity and hyper-reactivity, neurodiversity, non-neuro typicality, twice exceptionality, high-ability and OE and related informative links; based on feedback adapted our website https://www.powerwood.org.uk; maintained an email newsletter https://www.powerwood.org.uk/powerwoods-newsletters-publications/ Supported families through individual and family online consultancy sessions, testimonials from participants of these activities can be read on https://www.powerwood.org.uk/testimonials. We offer online Free and Friend memberships https://www.powerwood.org.uk/join-our-community-free-friends-family-membership/ We offer two free informative e-books: Exploring Neurodiversity https://www.powerwood.org.uk/product/powerwoods-neurodiversity-booklet/ And Exploring Overexcitability https://www.powerwood.org.uk/product/powerwoods-overexcitability-booklet/

Consultation with stakeholders

Supported parents and individuals give feedback after each session or event which has resulted in information on social media and in additional information and adaptation of the information around neurodiversity on the website (the self-help posts and blogs) and development of new tools, strategies and information to make sure that the support is better fitted to the needs of parents and individuals. Feedback has resulted in the informations and blogs of eight bloggers, including professionals and children/teens, on the online platform are freely available.

Total directors remuneration included in the accounts for the year is £31,250.
