Reading HK Runners CIC was established to build a supportive and inclusive running community for Hongkongers and local residents in Reading and the wider UK. During the financial year 2024, the group’s activities have benefited the community in the following ways: - Organised weekly weekend community runs, weekday casual runs, and one workout session per week, encouraging regular exercise and improving participants’ physical health and mental wellbeing. - Hosted city runs, including the Bristol run and themed routes in Reading and London, which promoted cultural exchange and strengthened connections between Hongkongers and the wider community. - Took part in local and national events such as Remembrance Day activities and community gatherings, helping members engage with UK traditions and broaden their sense of belonging. - Held a Christmas party and social gatherings, providing opportunities for friendship, social support, and community building among both new arrivals from Hong Kong and long-term residents. - Supported participation in larger events such as the Reading Half Marathon, where members joined both as runners and supporters, contributing to the wider Reading community spirit. - Maintained an inclusive ethos, welcoming people of different ages, running abilities, and backgrounds, reducing social isolation and fostering diversity in sport and community life.
