COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

Company Number: 14548981 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 December 2024

Company activities and impact

Big Beat Playground is a family friendly, dance music festival with a warm, welcoming and safe environment for children, young people and their families and very much community focussed. We aim to bring communities together and promote community cohesion. We believe that the festival experience should be enjoyed by everyone – whoever you are and whatever your situation - that’s why we insist on keeping our ticket prices low and distribute as many complimentary tickets to low-income families as possible. Last year we gave 535 free tickets to local low-income families together with free festival picnics for the children of low-income families. We were able to do this by partnering with other local charities and social enterprises, who distribute the free tickets to their members. Being community focussed, we want to empower the local community to meet their neighbours, take control of their outdoor spaces and have a great time together. Community cohesion increases as people share a common experience, create new bonds, develop a feeling of community inclusion, belonging and togetherness. Dancing, laughing and having fun has immediate impacts of happiness and wellbeing, feeding into longer term improvement in health and quality of life.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our company stakeholders are the families who attend our festivals. Feedback is in our DNA and has grown our events to where they are today. We have a dedicated team during all events who chat, watch, listen, and observe attendees. We record and accumulate all feedback, and it is categorised and prioritised. An action plan is created and a timeline of potential implementation devised. Action ranges from immediate / on the day, to being included at the next event. If necessary, any further information required on feedback is sought via mailshots and social media. The result is, every year a new event is held which is more focussed, dedicated, welcomed and evolved than the previous year, keeping families happy and the event a success.
