The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 December 2024

Principal activities of the company

During the financial year, Zya Community has focused on creating spaces, resources, and platforms that celebrate and support underrepresented voices, particularly Black creatives and creatives of colour, as well as individuals from marginalised backgrounds. Our principal activities have included: The Chilli Tree Network – providing a dedicated space for creatives of colour to connect, collaborate, and share their work. This has helped to foster a strong sense of belonging, knowledge exchange, and community connection. The Journey Home Research Project – currently in the data analysis stage, with the aim of developing a resource to support inclusive and innovative approaches to the repatriation of artifacts to Indigenous and origin communities. The Zya Wellbeing Project – delivering community-based wellbeing sessions tailored to the needs of people from marginalised backgrounds, supporting both individual wellbeing and community resilience. The Mix Online Magazine – launched to provide a platform for diverse voices, offering content that reflects and amplifies the communities we represent. We have consistently consulted with our members to ensure that our activities remain relevant and impactful. Regular in-person feedback from sessions, alongside in-person and online consultations, has shaped the development of our projects and ensured that our programmes are community-led and responsive to the needs of those we serve.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

ZYA COMMUNITY CIC

Company Number: SC717625 (Scotland)

Year Ending: 31 December 2024

Company activities and impact

During the financial year, Zya Community has continued to create meaningful opportunities and spaces for underrepresented voices. Through our Chilli Tree Network project, we have provided a platform for creatives of colour to connect, network, and share their work. This has helped Black creatives and creatives of colour foster a sense of belonging, exchange knowledge, and build lasting connections. Our research project, The Journey Home, is currently in the data analysis stage. The findings will inform the development of a resource to support inclusive and innovative approaches to the repatriation of artefacts to Indigenous and origin communities. We also launched the Zya Wellbeing Project, offering community-based wellbeing sessions tailored for individuals from marginalised backgrounds, supporting both mental health and community resilience. In addition, our online magazine, The Mix, went live this year. It continues to produce content that reflects, celebrates, and amplifies the diverse communities we represent.

Consultation with stakeholders

Throughout the year, we have consistently consulted with our members to understand what is most important to them and the types of support and opportunities they would like us to provide. Their feedback has directly shaped our work: The Chilli Tree Network project was developed in response to members expressing the need for spaces to connect, collaborate, and share their creative work. The Zya Wellbeing Project was introduced following requests for more community-based wellbeing support, particularly for those from marginalised backgrounds. Input from members has also guided the focus of The Journey Home research project, ensuring that the work remains inclusive and relevant to the communities it seeks to serve. The launch of our online magazine, The Mix, reflects members’ desire for more platforms that showcase and amplify diverse voices. We receive regular in-person feedback during our sessions, which provides us with immediate insights into members’ needs and experiences. In addition, we have carried out both in-person and online consultations, ensuring that a wide range of voices and perspectives are heard and reflected in our programmes.
