Company activities and impact

THIS YEAR WE CONTINUED OUR MENTORING SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WITHIN THE CREATIVE SECTOR. HOWEVER, WE ALSO WORKED WITH A CLIENT IN THE SOCIAL ENTERPRISE SECTOR AND A CREATIVE WHO WAS THINKING ABOUT SETTING UP THEIR OWN CIC. WE ALSO CARRIED OUT PROJECTS WITH YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE NEURODIVERGENT AND LGBTQ+ COMMUNITIES & A LOCAL YOUTH GROUP THAT ARE IN A DEPRIVED AREA. THIS WORK HELPED REDUCE SOCIAL ISOLATION, BUILT SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE IN HARD-TO-REACH GROUPS. IN RELATION TO THE NEURODIVERGENT YOUNG PEOPLE, THE ADDED BENEFIT OF THIS ACTIVITY WAS THAT PARENTS WERE GIVEN SOME RESPITE FROM THE DEMANDS OF SUPPORTING THEIR NEURODIVERGENT YOUNG PEOPLE. THE OUTCOMES OF THIS PROJECT ALSO BENEFITTED SEVERAL RESIDENTIAL HOMES IN GATESHEAD. THIS CROSS-GENERATIONAL WORK BENEFITTED MULTIPLE STAKEHOLDER GROUPS. WE WORKED WITH OUR FIRST CORPORATE CLIENT WHO COMMISSIONED CORPORATE GIFTS FROM OUR LUXURY DESIGN SERVICE, ANTIQUES OF THE FUTURE. 20% OF THE PROFITS FROM THIS ACTIVITY IS BEING PUT TOWARDS OUR WORK WITH YOUNG PEOPLE. AND THEY ARE KEEN TO CONTINUE WORKING WITH US. THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF DEVELOPING A DIVERSE RANGE OF REVENUE STREAMS.

Consultation with stakeholders

WE HAVE GATHERED FEEDBACK FROM PARENTS, RESIDENTIAL HOMES AND YOUNG PEOPLE THAT WE HAVE WORKED WITH OVER THE LAST YEAR. THERE WAS A GREAT DEAL OF POSITIVE FEEDBACK. HOWEVER, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE TIMING OF THE PROJECT (DURING MOCK EXAMS) SHOULD BE AVOIDED IN FUTURE. WE WORKED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH AN ORGANISATION CALLED TYNE DERWENT WAY, AND THEY HAVE ALSO GIVEN US SOME FEEDBACK. WE ALSO CONSULTED WITH ARTISTS WHO WORKED ON THE PROJECT, AND THEY ALSO GAVE US SOME FEEDBACK TO HELP US DEVELOP OUR APPROACH GOING FORWARD. WE HAVE SET UP AN INFORMAL ‘PARENTS OF ND KIDS GROUP’ TO GAIN INSIGHT FROM THEM AND PROVIDE THEM WITH A PLACE TO SHARE RESOURCES AND IDEAS. WE HOPE TO ESTABLISH THIS GROUP TO HELP PROVIDE FEEDBACK TO THE LOCAL AUTHORITY TO MAKE POLICY CHANGES THAT WILL HELP PARENTS NAVIGATE THE EDUCATION SYSTEM MORE EFFECTIVELY.
