During the financial year 2024, O.U.R Dog Foundation C.I.C continued its dedicated efforts to relieve the suffering of stray and abandoned dogs, promote responsible pet ownership and animal welfare, and facilitate the rehoming of rescued dogs into loving homes. Relieving the Suffering of Stray and Abandoned Dogs Our primary mission is to rescue dogs, focusing on those facing dire situations such as kill shelters or living in harsh street conditions. Throughout the year, we provided essential care, shelter and medical attention to countless dogs in need. By alleviating their suffering, we improved their welfare and gave them a chance for a brighter future. Promoting Responsible Pet Ownership and Animal Welfare We are committed to educating the public about the importance of responsible pet ownership. Through community engagement initiatives and advocacy efforts, we have raised awareness of the benefits of adoption, spaying/neutering, regular veterinary care, and positive training methods. These activities have fostered a culture of compassion and encouraged individuals to consider the welfare of animals as a priority. Facilitating the Rehoming of Rescued Dogs In 2024, we successfully rehomed 99 dogs, each of whom found a safe and nurturing environment with a loving family. These adoptions have not only transformed the lives of the dog but also positively impacted their owners, improving physical health and mental wellbeing. The presence of a rescue dog has brought companionship, increased opportunities for exercise, and a sense of purpose to many adopters; fostering deep bonds that benefit both human and animal. As part of our commitment to every dog we rehome, we provide rescue backup for life, ensuring that each animal continues to receive the support they need after adoption. This year’s efforts highlight our dedication to matching dogs with suitable adopters and maintaining a high standard of care. Through these activities, O.U.R Dog Foundation has made a meaningful difference in the lives of rescued dogs and the communities they join, embodying our mission to create a more compassionate world for animals and their human companions.
O.U.R Dog Foundation recognises that its stakeholders are integral to the success and impact of its activities. Our primary stakeholders include: Adopters: Individuals and families who adopt our rescued dogs and provide them with loving homes. Supporters and Donors: Those who contribute funds, resources or time to support our mission. Partner Organisations: Shelters and transport services in Romania and the UK that collaborate with us to rescue and rehome dogs. Volunteers: Individuals who assist with fostering, transport, home checks and administrative tasks. To ensure our stakeholders’ voices are heard, we have implemented several methods of consultation, particularly on feedback from our adopters through: Stakeholder Surveys: We actively encourage adopters, fosters, and supporters to complete surveys regarding their experience with our adoption process, the support provided, and the transition of their new pets into their homes. These surveys provide invaluable insights into what we are doing well and where we can improve. Trustpilot Reviews: Adopters are also invited to leave public reviews on Trustpilot to offer candid feedback about their journey with O.U.R Dog Foundation. The vast majority of feedback received in 2024 has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the professionalism, compassion, and dedication of our team. Adopters have expressed appreciation for the thoroughness of our adoption process and the ongoing support we provide post-adoption. Where issues or concerns have been raised, we have taken proactive steps to address them, including: Enhancing communication during the adoption process to ensure adopters feel informed and supported at every stage: every adopter is now asked to join a WhatsApp “community” containing all of the O.U.R Dog volunteers and other adopters, providing a supportive network where they can share experiences, seek advice, celebrate milestones, and stay connected with the wider O.U.R family. Providing additional resources such as training tips and behavioural advice to assist adopters in managing common challenges during the settling-in period. Strengthening our rescue backdrop procedures, including making changes to our surrender contract to reassure adopters of our lifetime commitment to each dog. By actively listening to our stakeholders and responding to feedback, O.U.R Dog Foundation has been able to refine and improve its processes, furthering our mission to rescue and rehome dogs while fostering positive relationships with all those involved in our work.
