Community Benefit Statement – Preston Park Tennis Courts CIC During the financial year, Preston Park Tennis Courts CIC has continued to deliver significant benefits to the local community through sport, coaching, and wider engagement. Expanded Coaching Programmes: We provided a full coaching programme for both adults and juniors, offering accessible opportunities for all ages and abilities. This has included group sessions, one-to-one coaching, and holiday camps, ensuring year-round provision. Installation of Floodlights: New floodlights were successfully installed, extending playing hours throughout the year. This has made the courts more accessible during evenings and winter months, increasing usage and reducing barriers to participation. Growth in Participation: We achieved a 90% increase in participation, with more local residents now actively engaged in tennis. This includes both casual players and those enrolled in structured programmes. Creation of New Leagues: We established 8 new competitive leagues, providing structured opportunities for players to enjoy regular competition, develop skills, and strengthen community connections. Inclusive Access: Concessions and affordable pricing ensured that programmes remained accessible to a wide range of community members, including children, families, and older residents. Community Wellbeing: Beyond tennis, our programmes have contributed to physical activity, mental health, and social inclusion, supporting local health and wellbeing objectives. Overall, Preston Park Tennis Courts CIC has strengthened its role as a community hub for sport, recreation, and social connection. We will continue to build on these achievements, expanding participation further and ensuring that the courts remain a thriving, inclusive community asset.
Stakeholder Consultation Our primary stakeholders are: Local players and residents who use the courts. Parents and juniors engaged in the coaching programme. Community groups and local schools. Brighton & Hove City Council, as landlord and partner in community sport. The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), as governing body support. Consultation has taken place through: Regular feedback from coaching participants and parents, both informally and through surveys. Direct conversations and feedback sessions with players at leagues and community events. Online booking system (Clubspark) usage data, which highlights community demand patterns. Ongoing dialogue with Brighton & Hove City Council officers on facility improvements. Engagement with the LTA on best practice for increasing participation and inclusion. Actions taken in response: Installation of floodlights, directly reflecting community requests for evening and winter play. Expansion of junior coaching opportunities and school outreach, following strong demand from parents. Introduction of new competitive leagues, responding to player feedback for more structured competition. Adjustments to pricing and concessions to maintain accessibility for all community members. Through this process, we have ensured that Preston Park Tennis Courts CIC remains responsive to stakeholder needs and continues to operate in line with its community purpose.
