Aurelius Productions CIC continued in its aims and objectives to carry out activities which benefit the community through the creation, writing, performance, production and promotion of artistic work for, and within, communities; to provide education, training and artistic development opportunities for professional performance practitioners and community based artists; and to document, archive and preserve the heritage of UK theatre and arts practice. Activity/Projects within this period were: Community-engaged Live Events Aurelius Productions continued to create community-engaged projects, including participatory dance events, which are delivered free-to-audience as community events in collaboration with festivals, arts organisations and local authorities across the country. These events offer quality arts experience to people who often do not get to visit theatres or art galleries. The company also collaborated with numerous arts festivals across the UK providing live talks/conference events, online and in-person. Supporting Independent Film Production Aurelius Productions continued to support the production of independent British film. Supporting the creation of, and co-producing, independent film has now become a regular aspect of the company’s work. Total Theatre Magazine Magazine and Print Archive Aurelius Productions continues to provide editorial content for Total Theatre Magazine, a non-profit educational magazine, which is published online at www.totaltheatre.org.uk. Total Theatre Magazine exists to support artists working in non-commercial theatre, dance and performance; and to inform and educate theatre artists, performing arts students, and the general public. Content is free to view and there is no advertising on the site. Workshops in Writing, Theatre and Performing Arts/Circus Skills Aurelius Productions continued to host community workshops in the performing and literary arts, and to offer support and advice to emerging artists, writers, and theatre companies. Online classes and workshops were low-cost, with a number of free bursary places offered. Some workshops are offered in collaboration with other arts organisations. Total Theatre Artists as Writers Programme The Total Theatre Artists as Writers programme, which sees the mentoring and support of emerging writers from the performing arts community, continued as a remote learning/mentoring project, with support from partners Queen Margaret University Edinburgh and Out There Arts in Great Yarmouth.
unders & Supporters Partners/supporters in our projects consulted with include Arts Council England, National Lottery Heritage, Attenborough Centre of the Creative Arts, Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, Waggon&Horses Film Productions, London International Mime Festival,Rose Bruford College, Without Walls, Queen Margaret University, participants in workshops and activities. The Total Theatre Artists as Writers programme engaged participants in consultation on the forms and means of mentoring and training support. Participatory activity took place in live events and workshops and also online via Zoom. The writing workshops and participatory dance events took place at community events and festivals, engaging people in arts activity, many of whom do not regularly participate in arts events. We supported the production and post-production of independent film The Bystanders which engaged numerous artists as workers and volunteers. Social Media The Total Theatre Facebook page has over 2,500 followers and is used and appreciated as a source of information for emerging artists and performers seeking information on fellow artist’s and shows, news of training, professional development and job opportunities. Total Theatre Magazine also has an Instagram and Threads profile. Feedback is that the Total Theatre website and its associated social media outlets are a valuable resource.
