COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

BRAVE BOLD DRAMA COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 10708381 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 April 2025

Company activities and impact

We created a new improvised theatre installation The Keepers which toured in the south west to community festivals and care homes. All performances were free to access. We toured another improvised storytelling show Sticky Ends! to community events and festivals during this period, and these performances were also free to access. We published our second co-created children’s book, The Dragon’s Alamanac which was developed in a partnership project with Hartcliffe City Farm, working specifically with vulnerable families living in BS13, a ward experiencing some of the highest levels of deprivation in the UK. We launched the book at a free event, with storytelling, arts activities and free copies of the book were distributed to the families who participated, with additional copies being purchased by Hartcliffe City Farm for future distribution free of charge to vulnerable families in that area. Bristol City Centre Business Improvement District commissioned us to create a free interactive art trail providing totally free creative family activity from May until August 2024. We ran a free family arts day in Hartcliffe (BS13) in May 2023, engaging 50 direct participants in performances of circus and arts and crafts. We provided three days of free performances of our interactive science installation The Discovery Lab at Bridge Learning Campus Primary in Hartcliffe. We created a new playable show for families The Mexico Mission! and toured it in April 2025 entirely free of charge to libraries in Dorset. In addition we gave a relaxed accessible performance to young people with additional needs in partnership with the Dorset Council service Artz+.

Consultation with stakeholders

Company directors Gillian Simmons, Paul Lawless and Ruth Hill remained with the company for the duration of this reporting period. We met on a weekly basis with at least 2 directors present to plan company activity, discuss new ideas for how to reach other vulnerable groups and to share knowledge about new contacts we may have made through individual networking. During this reporting period we widened our focus just from south Bristol to the south west region, developing work with vulnerable community members in Dorset and south Somerset. We received feedback and suggestions from the community during this period through word of mouth, from people attending events we were running, and through social media feedback.

Directors' remuneration

Ruth Hill received no remuneration during this period. Gillian Simmons and Paul Lawless, received monthly remuneration from grants secured by the company to facilitate creative activities or give performances. All payments were paid in a freelance capacity, with directors invoicing the company only when there were grants secured by the company when these grants included freelance artist fees for those directors to deliver that activity.

Transfer of assets

No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
