Notes to the Financial Statements

for the Period Ended 31 December 2024

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable. Turnover is reduced for estimated customer returns, rebates and other similar allowances. Revenue from the sale of goods is recognised when all of the following conditions are satisfied: the Company has transferred to the buyer the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods; the Company retains neither continuing managerial involvement to the degree usually associated with ownership nor effective control over the goods sold; the amount of revenue can be measured reliably; it is probable that the economic benefits associated with the transaction will flow to the Company; and the costs incurred or to be incurred in respect of the transaction can be measured reliably. Specifically, revenue from the sale of goods is recognised when goods are delivered and legal title is passed.

    Other accounting policies

Income tax expense represents the sum of the tax currently payable and deferred tax. The tax currently payable is based on taxable profit for the year. Taxable profit differs from the surplus as recorded in the income and expenditure account because of items of income or expense that are taxable or deductible in other years and items that are never taxable or deductible. The Company's liability for current tax is calculated using tax rates that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the end of the reporting period.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

CZECH SCHOOL CAMBRIDGE CIC

Company Number: 12376848 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 December 2024

Company activities and impact

In December 2024, the Czech School Cambridge concluded its 5th year of existence. Throughout the year we had between 35 and 45 bilingual children attending our Saturday classes. We continue to see great improvement in the language skills of the children who attend our classes on a regular basis. A new group for parents with very young children has also been established in October 2024. The school has also organised a number of well attended events for whole families including Easter celebrations, camping trip, family afternoon with camp fire, kite flying festival, Christmas wreath workshop and traditional St Nicholas event. During the year we had also advertised a number of different classes and webinars for both children and adults organised by other Czech schools in the UK, and various other organisations. The school currently offers a library with a wide selection of children's and adults' literature in the Czech language.

Consultation with stakeholders

No formal consultation has taken place with the stakeholders, namely the parents of our pupils and the relevant Czech governmental departments. However, we are in regular contact with the parents of our children and we ask for and value any feedback given to us. We organise regular informal meetings for all to discuss our strategies and the direction the school is taking. The Annual Report with detailed description of our activities has been circulated to all our families and we have supplied reports about the school activities for the year ending 2024 to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic from whom we receive funding. Our school is also part of the Association of Czech and Slovak Schools in the United Kingdom and we attend annual meetings with the directors of other Czech and Slovak Schools in the United Kingdom. In 2024 Lucie Tousova was the only director of the company. The school employed four teachers (including Lucie, who was teaching the group of youngest school age children) and three teaching assistants. We also have a number of volunteers helping out at various events.
