COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

LSUB CIC

Company Number: 12804401 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 December 2024

Company activities and impact

At LSUB we believe that every child should arrive at school on the first day of term as an equal to their peers, ready to learn and reach their potential, feeling part of the school community. With that in mind, we provide school uniform free of charge to families who are experiencing financial hardship across Lewes. We fundraise so that every child has a new set of uniform to arrive in on day one and we also take donations of good quality second hand uniform, so that families have a second set whilst the first is in the wash. All families are referred into the service and need to be re-referred every year. LSUB accepts referrals from Social Services (Children’s Services), CAB, Head Teacher/SENCO, food bank managers, Homelink or their GP. We supported 77 families in the year, provided 296 new uniforms items which was a 32% increase on the previous year, partly due to new uniform designs along with an increase in referrals. 96% of referred families live within the Lewes Town boundaries. We have 7 active referral pathways and we have recycled and redistributed more than 1,300 uniform items since LSUB began. 9 out of 10 LSUB members reported that the new referral system is less stressful, more dignified and easier to access.

Consultation with stakeholders

Every year we invite families accessing LSUB to feed back on their experiences anonymously to help us record and measure impact and improve our offer. We also consult with our referral pathways to see what is working and what could be improved. Following feedback from service users and in partnership with food banks and similar community projects, we continue to develop our practises to ensure our referrals process is as stress-free and dignified as possible, recognising that our service users are going through a difficult time.
