The company runs Healing Hearts and Minds with Horses C.I.C. at The Holistic Horse and Pony Centre in Ockham, Surrey, with the special enthesis on helping teenagers needing support through mind and emotional health. The company opened in December 2020 and has made significant impact in that time on the community. There have been over 50 children coming in privately and a further 10 have been helped via local children’s organisation, the company has also worked with Surrey County Council and their send services providing further support and help for teenagers in a variety of capacities. We have also provided schools the opportunity with weekly programmes to build on confidence and life skills with great success. In additional we have worked with Big Leaf Foundation a big organisation that helps young and vulnerable asylum seekers and other displaced children and teenagers. This allowed them space to continue learning English, building confidence, and dealing with the challengers associated with their situations. In addition to helping teenagers Healing Hearts and Minds with Horses CIC has provided safe space for some rescue horses to rehabilitate which has helped the equine-assisted therapy and coaching. Many of the teenagers can relate to some of the neglect and abuse and have been able to forge safe and trusting relationships with the horses. We have also been able to provide ongoing therapy and coaching for pro-bono for a handful of people who have been unable to access funding. We have run free workshops for schools who specialise in behavioural challengers for children to work in group dynamics with the herd to understand and develop better communication, connection, and boundaries. Healing Hearts and Minds with Horses, C.I.C. has provided work experience and job opportunities for young vulnerable adults and volunteer opportunities for those unable to be employed. The key benefits HHAMWH has been able to provide through their range of services are: Self-Confidence, Resilience, Courage, Decision-making, Problem-solving, Respect for self, others, horses animals, Self love,, acceptance and self-worth improvement, Emotional regulation, Trauma healing, Relaxation, Distressing tools, Life skills, Fun, Trust in self.
