Additional information

The director is responsible for preparing the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations. Company law requires the directors to prepare such financial statements for each financial year. Under that law the director was elected to prepare the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice), FRS 105. Under company law the directors must not approve the financial statements unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the company and of the profit or loss of the company for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the director is required to select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; make judgements and accounting estimates that are reasonable and prudent; and prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the company will continue in business. The director is responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the company's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the company and enable them to ensure that. the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Company activities and impact

This community interest company organised the following activities for the benefit of its members, their children and the local community: - New yam festival in collaboration with other cultural association to teach and promote the rich Igbo culture and heritage - Training in various igbo cultural dances across a broad age spectrum and performing these dances at events in the local community including the new yam festival - Organising of Christmas community event and Easter community event to celebrate and interact showcasing a wide range of exotic traditional cuisines and music - Teaching of Igbo language, values and good citizenship to children and young people. - Giving welfare support to members and other people in need in the community - Launch of a Enugu music to promote Igbo culture and heritage

Consultation with stakeholders

The CIC holds regular monthly meetings with its members to discuss issues which affect them, plan for upcoming programmes, attend to members' welfare and discuss how they can contribute to the best interest of the members, local community and the general public. All programmes were run with the full support of members whose response and engagement have been positive.
