Company activities and impact

The Sanctuary of Peace and Healing CIC develops and delivers training for volunteers to provide a free listening service for the local area Gorton and for the City of Manchester. The service is fully operational and runs from Sunday to Thursday every week. Through the online booking system clients can self-refer on the service and are allocated up to 3 free listening sessions. If they wish, the clients can access free counselling sessions provided by students on placement who we supervise and manage. This has led to over 700 free listening and counselling sessions during this period. The service also acts as a signpost and provides a range of social prescription activities and lived-experience support groups. This includes a domestic violence group. We have been working with The Monastery to create partnerships and aim to develop a working model that can be transferred to other Heritage buildings. We are in the process of developing funding bids to help develop these projects.

Consultation with stakeholders

We consult regularly with our volunteers who are now part of a growing community within the sanctuary. We have supported our volunteers in setting up support groups. We consult The Monastery and report to their board of trustees to ensure our work is in line with their charitable aims. We consult with our community and hear their needs through the listening service and also neighbourhood services such as BUZZ. We contribute to the impact reporting system at The Monastery gaining feedback and measuring social impact through their online platform. We continually revise our service in response to stakeholder feedback.
