Umbrella Hugs CIC runs activities to benefit of all residents of Middlesbrough and the surrounding area of Teesside. Engaging with all elements of the local community, using practical skills to provide, a range of activities where they will gain knowledge around Physical & mental well-being, the environment both, local & wider surrounding areas and local History. We registered in September 2022. During the financial year September 2022 to September 2023, we started delivery of most of sessions or workshops in March 2023,when we received two funding amounts; one from Awards for All with the National lottery and Thirteen Group. Additionall funding continued from October 2023 to present. Previous to these we worked delivering odd sessions directly with 3 other organisations. The delivery of sessions and workshops has benefited the community in the following ways: -Educated school local children on the history and things to be proud of in their area -Educated Children in local out of school group in a severely deprived area of Middlesbrough on the positives in their area, history creating a sense of pride and inspiration -Shared stories and lived experience of growing up and embracing changes with positivity within an independent living area for elderly residents. -Engaged with those who were socially isolated, especially with older residents -Inspired intergenerational groups to come together within the community. -Worked with 5 diverse identified groups with little support or engagement with wider community. Umbrella Hugs CIC have also worked collaboratively with a number of other organisations and establishments, providing artistic workshops with local schools, environmental workshops with Tees Valley Wildlife Trust and local history projects with residents for Young @ Heart. Also physical and mental well-being sessions with local colleges for students, Young @ heart for over SS's, Umbuntu Multi-cultural CIC with children from diverse backgrounds , Billingham Well-being Group for those struggling with social isolation, anxiety and improving physical health, Groundworks with young adolescents giving them skills to gain employment and Big Local - Roseworth with their residents.
The companies stakeholders are the residents who attend any of the activities which we provide in the local area or surrounding areas of Teesside. Also the individual organistaions with which we work. We consulted with Thirteen Group (local Council), who's local community research had identified a need of bridging the intergenerational gap between local residents both young and old also the need to feel positive about the local area in which they live. This was in preparation for starting in April with delivery of activities. Following on from interaction with groups we have continued to deliver the activities which they needed or requested as needed. We ask each group to fill in an evaluation sheet of attended activities, to see if objectives for session had been met also how they could be improved or what they would like to take part in. We are constantly speaking to residents and attendees in sessions to see how we can improve practice or bring new things for them to be a part of within the community and to identify future needs.
The aggregate amount of emoluments paid to directors of the CIC in respect of qualifying services did not take place until March 2023 of £12,147.00 and £8,076 (October 2023 – September 2024) and is for continued delivery. Other transactions in connection with directors with remuneration are for collaborative working with other organisations (as mentioned in Part 1), where an organisation pays for delivery of a single session or block of sessions from Umbrella Hugs CIC.
