Who we are and what we do Antika is a community interest company dedicated to promoting diversity and empowering communities through inclusive musical events and culture-led initiatives. We create welcoming, barrier-breaking spaces where diaspora and local artists collaborate, audiences discover underrepresented traditions, and inter-community dialogue flourishes. Our events aim to build bridges across cultures, spark meaningful conversations, and offer emerging artists platforms to grow. Summary of activities in 2024 Throughout 2024, Antika delivered a vibrant programme of cultural and musical events across London, ranging from intimate community jams to large showcase concerts in partnership with venues and companies such as Grand Junction, Rich Mix, and Netflix. These activities brought together over 40 artists and approximately 1000 audience members across 10 events. By curating intercultural performances, women-led projects, and instrument-focused sessions, we provided opportunities for underrepresented diaspora voices to be heard, preserved and re-imagined heritage traditions, and created inclusive, safe spaces where diverse communities could connect through music and cultural exchange. Our work during the year contributed to: -Artist development – providing platforms for emerging and established diaspora artists. -Community cohesion – bringing together people of different backgrounds through shared cultural experiences. -Heritage preservation – showcasing traditional forms like Andalusian music and muwashahat alongside contemporary interpretations. -Inclusion – ensuring women-led projects and diverse artistic practices were central to our programming
Who we consulted -Community audiences attending our sessions. -Participating artists & collaborators (performers, producers, and facilitators). -Partner venues & cultural organisations with whom we co-delivered events. -Volunteers and peer organisers supporting on the night. How we consulted (during the year) -Post-event debriefs (in-person) with artists and volunteers to capture what worked and what to improve. -Direct feedback from audiences through informal conversations and social media messages. -Programming meetings between directors (Tarek Aljneidi & Bassel Hariri) to review feedback and shape future events. -Partner check-ins with venue teams to consider audience experience, diversity of programming, and technical matters.
