Company activities and impact

The company runs Speak Volumes Festival - a free annual arts festival in Worcester, England. In its third iteration (and second year as a CIC entity) our festival has successfully engaged with the local community and provided free activities, volunteering opportunities, and paid work for artists and creative people within the following demographics: Local to Worcester(shire) Aged between 16-35 Students, recent graduates, and those aged 16+ excluded from secondary or college education (including, but not limited to, 'school refusers') Disabled, living with chronic illness, and neurodiverse Emerging artists and those new to working in artistic/creative industries. In 2025, a total of 112 local people (All within at least 1 of the above demographic criteria) were involved as paid creative practitioners, gallery-featured artists, performers or volunteers. Free offerings to the public included: - 2 multisensory art exhibitions - co-created by Speak Volumes Festival CIC and two local creatives with lived experience of sight loss. - 12 hands-on creative workshops, delivered by local students and practitioners, varying from poetry to jewellery-making, puppetry, origami, and life drawing. 11 of 12 workshops achieved full capacity. - 6 live performances of music and poetry. Recitals were accompanied by live subtitling: an alternative to BSL service benefitting d-Deaf individuals and those with hearing loss. - A gallery and marketplace featuring the art of numerous local disabled, emerging, student, and young adult artists. - 2 outdoor activity stalls. - A book launch for a disabled-made publication 'Celebrate You', a multimedia zine exclusively produced by Speak Volumes Festival CIC and AccessAbility Arts for the 2025 festival. Overall, The 2025 festival was a success: with a notable increase in engagement with activities, attendance (Approximate footfall doubled from 2024) and positive feedback. Thanks to funding granted by Arts Council England and The National Lottery, this year's festival could achieve its goal of being physically and financially accessible to creatives from all walks of life. Some feedback received from festivalgoers this year included: "Exceptional quality" “Was so much fun, highly recommend checking this out” “Thanks once again for having me, and for putting on such an incredible inclusive festival” “Speak Volumes is such a valuable and enriching festival experience! It's provides opportunities to SO many early career, emerging, and brand new artists (of many disciplines) who otherwise may not get the opportunity to be part of such events. Affordability is absolutely such a barrier within the arts, coming from a working class background and going through the state school system, I have become acutely aware of just how many financial hurdles there are to jump over in an attempt to be a practicing creative - so much of the industry feels like it works of a "pay to play" basis. This is one of the most wonderful things about Speak Volumes: it really helps to level the playing field and allows artists and creatives to express themselves AND engage with practices they otherwise might not be able to.” “In arts, disabled artists are pushing boundaries, proving that vision isn’t limited to sight, movement isn’t confined to mobility, and storytelling isn’t restricted by convention. Their work tells stories of resilience, identity, and beauty. Let’s celebrate these artists, amplify their voices, and support more inclusive spaces in the art world.” “...Their dedication to uplifting disabled voices? *Chef’s kiss* As of September 2025, the CIC has begun to facilitate affordable crafts workshops in Worcester City Centre. These are expected to run bi-weekly until May 2026 - the new provisional date for Speak Volumes Festival 2026.
