I'm very proud and happy to share with you the first Impact Report for the West London Society of Art CIC. This document tells the story of what we have done and shows how powerful art is to connect people, give inspiration, and make our community better. Our vision for the West London Society of Art CIC is clear: we want to create a lively, easy-to-use, and helpful arts space across West London. Our mission is to actively provide the places, tools, and chances that not only help artists grow but also make our local culture richer. We truly believe that art is not a luxury, but a vital part of a strong community. This journey started officially with our launch in October 2023. Over this first busy period, we've built a strong foundation for what we set out to do. Our main focus is getting the community involved. This means making sure our projects include everyone and reflect the many different voices in West London. Through public exhibitions, workshops, and accessible art programmes, we’ve worked hard to make things easier and bring creative expression to people of all ages and backgrounds. Chairman’s Foreword Just as important is the strong support we give to artists themselves. As a Community Interest Company, we understand the difficulties faced by artists, whether they are new or experienced. We have focused on giving practical help, including networking events, professional training, and making sure they are paid fairly for their work. This helps local talent succeed both in their art and in business. The good things you will read about in this report are down to the combined effort of everyone: our dedicated staff, the passion of our artists, the kindness of our partners, and the enthusiasm of the West London community. We look forward with excitement to reaching more people and making an even bigger impact next year. Thank you for joining us on this important creative mission. Christian Azolan Chairman
Community Engagement We significantly expanded our reach within the local community by growing our Artist Membership to 28 local artists. A key achievement in this area was our partnership with Hypha Studios Charity, which enabled us to occupy previously unused property in Stockley Park Business Park in Hayes, Hillingdon. This collaboration laid the groundwork for enhanced artist support and community interaction Artist Support Thanks to our partnership with Hypha Studios, we were able to provide substantial support to local artists. We offered 23 free art studios to 24 local artists in the Stockley Park area of West London. In addition to the art studios, we also secured former Wetherspoons premises within the same building, with plans to convert this space into a dedicated art gallery. We also initiated artist development through workshops, holding our first session where artists explored options for producing prints of their artworks to boost their revenue. Financial Sustainability The West London Society of Art is currently self-sustaining through membership fees and fundraising efforts. During the reporting period, we maintained a strong membership base of 28 members and 1 Supporting Member. The funds raised through these memberships were instrumental in supporting the operation of our venue in Stockley Park and promoting it to the local community. However, due to our modest funds and ambitious programme, the WLSOA recognises the need to increase membership costs and actively explore grant applications and fundraising opportunities with local businesses to ensure long-term financial viability.
