Company activities and impact

Spoken Injustice is a mission-driven, advocacy-focused media organisation committed to exposing the shortcomings of the criminal justice system, with a particular focus on wrongful convictions. Our core work centres on producing video content published on YouTube and amplified across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads and X. Through this content, we aim to bring underrepresented perspectives to light, spark meaningful public dialogue and advocate for systemic change in policy and law. As a social impact media company and cause-driven platform, we prioritise powerful storytelling and in-depth reporting on critical justice issues to drive awareness and inspire action. Our Goals: 1. Humanise miscarriages of justice by showing the devastating impact they have on individuals, families and communities. 2. Work toward reducing these injustices by staying up to date with legal developments, exposing flaws in the criminal justice system and putting forward reform proposals that promote fairness. Our website includes a dedicated reform page where community members can contribute directly to the drafting and refinement of proposals. Progress (Year ending January 2025) Over the past year, we have focused on strengthening our presence and expanding our reach: a. On YouTube, we grew our community beyond our 500-subscriber target, reaching the first step toward monetisation. By 31st January 2025, our content achieved 20.4K video views and 14.3K shorts views. b. Our X (formerly Twitter) presence has also expanded significantly, increasing visibility and engagement with key audiences. c. We secured our participation in multiple public events on miscarriages of justice which took place in spring 2025, further establishing our presence in the advocacy space. d. Beyond campaign work, we produced in-depth reporting on key legal cases, including full coverage and analysis of the Allam and Nealon case at the European Court of Justice, as well as the Lucy Letby’s appeal refusal.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our primary stakeholder is the general public, and we gather feedback through comments on our YouTube videos and interactions across our various social media platforms. Feedback from viewers and event participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with many noting that our work has deepened their understanding of the broader implications of specific cases, including high-profile cases such as Lucy Letby. Additionally, we work in close partnership with campaign groups, whom we also view as key stakeholders, by providing tailored media support that amplifies their voices and advances their initiatives. In 2024 this included: 1. Video coverage of APPEAL’s “Doubt Dismissed” campaign. 2. On-the-ground participation in campaigns led by prisoners maintaining their innocence, including the “Free Warren Slaney” campaign in Birmingham and the Jeremy Bamber campaign (JBIC). 3. Video coverage highlighting the issue of Joint Enterprise, with full support by JENGBA who became our followers on X. 4. Video coverage of the Post Office Scandal, focusing on the stories of sub-postmasters affected. We also secured for the second year our involvement in International Falsely Accused Day, providing exclusive and comprehensive coverage of the event. Our efforts were praised and appreciated by organisations such as the Falsely Accused Support Organisation (FASO) and False Allegation in the Context of Trust (FACT).
