Company activities and impact

East Sussex Early Days CIC provides specialist infant and child feeding support to parents within East Sussex. We currently run three breastfeeding support groups across East Sussex, in Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne. These support groups are free for parents to access. They are facilitated by Lactation Consultants and we have funded peer supporter and breastfeeding counsellor training. We have received grant funding through The Chalk Cliff Trust, The Hastings Lions, Rother Voluntary Action and Hastings Voluntary Action which has allowed for these groups to continue to run free of charge. Since our incorporation we have facilitated around 80 groups and the attendance figures for these vary from around four to fourteen. National Lottery funding has allowed us to provide Lactation Consultant visits free of charge to parents in their own homes. To date we have provided 190 home visits. Many of these visits have resulted in the families then coming along to the various groups. In conjunction with the Clifton Centre we will also be facilitating ‘introducing solids workshops’ and music workshops.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are those that use either our home visiting services or our groups. We ask for feedback from those who attend our groups and we also send out an anonymous feedback form to those who have accessed our home visiting service. The feedback for both our home visits and groups have been overwhelmingly positive. Most commented that they were impressed with the speed in which a consultation was offered. 97% stated that the visit by a Lactation Consultant had improved breastfeeding for them or their baby. Feedback from the groups have included a request to run throughout the year, unfortunately we cannot facilitate this as they are run by volunteers who have school-age children. We do continue to offer home visits during the holiday periods. Seating has been highlighted as needing improvements at both the Hastings and Eastbourne groups - as a result we are looking at getting some floor cushions/bean bags.

Directors' remuneration

During the accounting period amounts totaling £13,191 were paid to directors for consultation fees. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director's loss of office, which require to be disclosed.

Transfer of assets

No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
