In the financial year, ACL Collective CIC has made a meaningful contribution to the local Bedfordshire community through creative, inclusive, and family-focused activities. In April, we delivered an Easter-themed event in Kempston, Bedford, for under 5’s and their families. This event provided young children with opportunities to learn and play in a safe, engaging environment, while also supporting parents and carers to connect with one another, helping to reduce isolation and strengthen community ties. Alongside this, ACL Collective CIC ran a storytelling residency across local libraries in Ampthill, Houghton Regis, and Biggleswade. These sessions encouraged children and families to explore stories together, promoting early literacy, imagination, and a love of reading. The residency not only enhanced access to cultural and creative experiences but also supported the role of local libraries as welcoming, community-focused spaces. Through these activities, ACL Collective CIC has enriched family life, supported children’s early development, and fostered stronger connections between people in the Bedfordshire community.
ACL Collective CIC Stakeholders including Bedfordshire local families, suppliers, partners & beneficiaries of the area. We are committed to consulting regularly with stakeholders to develop our work and responding to their feedback. For the Easter bunny’s party we engaged 195 people across two days and four performances and gave participants the option to feedback on their experiences. We received 4.63 out of 5 stars in our feedback report, and received responses to show the majority of participants lived locally to the performance venue, where 75 percent of participants that provided feedback had engaged with this local community space for the first time during this event, and 13 percent saying they never typically engage with arts and culture, with the overwhelming majority stating how engaging and well organised the event was. For the Storytelling project we engaged 223 participants throughout the project where the initial phase focused on community engagement to co-develop ideas for workshops and performances. Community members, including families and individuals of all ages, were invited to share their ideas and perspectives to shape the narrative and structure of key performances. This phase was instrumental in gathering creative input for the production titled The Lost Monster in the Library. Interactive brainstorming sessions, surveys, and small focus groups were used to connect with residents, ensuring that their voices played a central role that fed into the creative process. This collaborative approach not only informed the artistic direction but also enabled a sense of ownership and pride among participants. Utilising both in person feedback prior to and after events has helped us build our experience, project development, and planning guiding us to create more impactful meaningful events for the local community in future.
