Over the past year, Rother Radio has continued to deliver a dedicated community radio service for Rotherham and South Yorkshire, providing a unique local voice with music, news, and community information that reflects our audience and their interests. We have actively supported local events, including the Brinsworth Village Fete, the Jetsport British Championship at Rother Valley (Round 5), Rotherham Pride, Rotherham’s Got Talent (raising funds for the Social Supermarket), Sam’s Army at Clifton Park in May, and the Wickersley Summer Gala. Our involvement has helped raise awareness, boost attendance, and highlight the achievements of local people and organisations. In addition to event support, we continue to provide affordable advertising and sponsorship for local businesses, helping them grow and connect with the community. Our station is powered largely by volunteers, offering skills development in broadcasting, media production, and event promotion. This has supported individuals to gain confidence, valuable experience, and pathways into further opportunities. Through our broadcasts and community presence, Rother Radio has strengthened local identity, reduced isolation, and fostered pride in Rotherham, demonstrating our continued commitment to delivering positive social impact for the communities we serve.
Rother Radio regularly consults with its stakeholders, including listeners, volunteers, local community groups, and advertisers. Feedback is gathered through on-air interaction, social media engagement, surveys, and direct conversations at local events. We have also worked closely with event organisers at Brinsworth Village Fete, Rotherham Pride, Rotherham’s Got Talent, Sam’s Army at Clifton Park, and Wickersley Summer Gala, ensuring our support reflects the needs of the community. Local schools and colleges have also provided feedback on our outreach and careers guidance work, shaping our plans to further develop opportunities for young people. This ongoing consultation helps us ensure our programming, activities, and partnerships remain relevant, inclusive, and beneficial to the communities of Rotherham and Sheffield.
