Balance sheet statements

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover comprises the fair value of the consideration received and provision of services in the ordinary course of the company’s activities. Turnover is shown net of sales/value added tax, returns, rebates and discounts. The company recognises revenue when: The amount of revenue can be reliably measured; it is probable that future economic benefits will flow to the entity; and specific criteria have been met for each of the company's activities.

    Other accounting policies

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 Section 1A smaller entities - 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland' and the Companies Act 2006 (as applicable to companies subject to the small companies' regime).

Company activities and impact

The company's activities provide benefit to: the general public, either as audiences for performances and exhibitions; participants in workshops and classes. the South Asian dance and visual arts community in Croydon, London and the UK as artists, creatives at all stages of their careers. Croydon arts organisations and the local authority by advising, curating, promoting, showcasing dance to grow the sector. Croydon school network and educational establishments in providing performances and workshops. Charities working with disabled; individual with disabilities; the elderly and organisations working with the elderly by delivering programme designed to promote creativity, healthier body and mind. Promotion of the appreciation of dance, especially South Asian through curating, presenting, performing, creating new work, supporting emerging artists and teaching. Addressing the lack of visibility of South Asian dance, especially work drawing on contemporary British South Asian narratives and for all ages by creating new work that provides visibility for South Asian artists; presenting affordable live performances in theatres, community halls, parks, educational establishments; on film and digital broadcast. Engaging more people in dance through curated festivals featuring dance from a wide range of cultures; workshops and training to increase engagement and promote a healthier physical lifestyle. We promote cultural understanding and cohesion in the UK today. We provide paid work and development opportunities for artists at all stages of their careers. Promotion of the appreciation of visual arts through creating, curating, presenting and teaching multi-media design. Graphic design, photography, video and exhibition design. Making different cultures visible through exhibitions, online and actual in museums, libraries, arts organisations and community venues. Developing a new generation of artists representing South Asian and other global majority cultures who ensure that photography, video and exhibition design has a more diverse perspective.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company's stakeholders are mainly South Asian dance and visual arts community in Croydon, London and UK as artists, creatives at all stages of their careers. Making different cultures visible through exhibitions, online and actual in museums, libraries, arts organisations and community venues. We ask audiences and artists for the feedback by using the form and suggestions box.
