Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 31 March 2025 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Other accounting policies

    1. Turnover (Revenue Recognition) Turnover represents income generated from animation production, creative design, and related media services, exclusive of VAT. Revenue is recognised when project deliverables have been provided to the client, or where relevant, on a percentage-of-completion basis for ongoing projects. 2. Expenditure Expenditure is recognised on an accruals basis. Costs directly related to projects such as creative production, software subscriptions, and freelance services are recorded as expenses in the period in which they are incurred. 3. Tangible Fixed Assets (although non in this case.) Tangible fixed assets, such as computer equipment and software, are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation. Depreciation is provided on a straight-line basis at 25% per annum to reflect the expected useful life of these assets. 4. Debtors and Creditors Debtors are stated at the amount expected to be received after the deduction of any known doubtful debts. Creditors are recognised for amounts the company is obligated to pay as at the balance sheet date. 5. Cash and Cash Equivalents Cash includes cash in hand and deposits held with banks that are available on demand. 6. Taxation The tax charge for the period is based on the result for the year, adjusted for disallowable items. Deferred tax is recognised on timing differences where material. 7. Grants and Donations Grant income is recognised only when the company has complied with the conditions attached to the funding, and it is reasonably certain that the income will be received. Donations are recognised when received and both of these are crecognised as turnover/revenue

Company activities and impact

During the financial year, AWANetwork became incorporated for business in February 2024 however activities started much later and is short time the company has contributed positively to the community by promoting creative education, entrepreneurship, and cultural engagement. Through its animation and visual storytelling activities, the company has supported small businesses and non-profit organisations to communicate their messages more effectively, improving their visibility and community impact. AWANetwork has also extended its work into community and educational settings, going into schools to teach animation and story telling, providing creative workshops and opportunities for young people to learn about digital animation and visual communication. These activities have encouraged skills development, confidence, and career awareness in creative media fields. In addition, AWANetwork has collaborated with local events and cultural initiatives, such as The African Animated Shorts Experience - UK (TAASE), to showcase diverse creative voices and strengthen cultural exchange within the community. Overall, the company’s activities have fostered inclusion, creative learning, and local economic participation through the use of animation as a tool for empowerment and storytelling. In addition, there has been a few non-profit support for business through creative designs and assistance offered as a social responsibility.

Consultation with stakeholders

During the financial year, AWANetwork engaged with a range of stakeholders, including small business clients, non-profit partners, community participants, and creative collaborators involved in its educational and cultural programmes. Some of these are Dartford Arts Network, Dartford Council, Grace Outreach Church, Primal Runners, Healthy Living Centre. Consultation took place through direct project feedback sessions, informal discussions, and community event evaluations, particularly following activities under The African Animated Shorts Experience (TAASE) initiative. We asked people who attended the events to fill in a short questionnaire about where they hope to see this go next. Feedback received highlighted the value of accessible creative training and the need for affordable promotional content for small organisations. In response, AWANetwork has refined its service packages and community engagement model to better support SMEs and non-profits, while continuing to strengthen partnerships that promote creative education and inclusion.
