In the financial year ending 2024, Gosport Waterfront Festival CIC successfully delivered the Gosport Waterfront Festival 2024, a vibrant community celebration that brought together thousands of residents, visitors, and local businesses. The event provided wide-ranging benefits to the Gosport community - Local Business Boost: Over 60 local traders, food vendors, and artisans participated, gaining exposure and income through stalls and pop-ups. This directly supported the town’s small business ecosystem and encouraged local spending. - Live Entertainment & Culture: The festival showcased over 30 live performances from regional bands, dance groups, and community choirs, celebrating Gosport’s creative talent and enriching the town’s cultural life. - Youth & Volunteer Engagement: We worked with local schools, youth clubs, and colleges to offer volunteering roles, backstage access, and performance opportunities. Young people gained valuable experience in event management, hospitality, and creative arts. - Community Partnerships: The event was delivered in collaboration with local charities, civic groups, and emergency services, strengthening ties between organisations and enhancing public trust. All surplus funds were reinvested into planning future community events and improving infrastructure to support wider participation in 2025 and also significant donations to local charities.
Gosport Waterfront Festival CIC actively engaged with a wide range of stakeholders throughout the planning and delivery of the 2024 festival to ensure the event reflected community needs and priorities: - Community Groups & Charities: We consulted with local organisations including youth clubs, disability advocacy groups, and cultural associations to ensure inclusive representation and participation. Their input shaped the layout of quiet zones, accessible viewing areas, and family-friendly activities. - Local Businesses & Traders: A pre-event consultation session was held with prospective stallholders and food vendors to discuss logistics, pricing, and promotional support. This helped streamline operations and maximize commercial benefit for participants. - Local Authorities & Emergency Services: Regular planning meetings were held with Gosport Borough Council, Hampshire Constabulary, and St John Ambulance to ensure safety, compliance, and smooth coordination. Their guidance informed crowd management, traffic flow, and emergency response planning. - Volunteers & Event Staff: Post-event feedback forms and debrief sessions were used to gather insights from volunteers and crew members. Their suggestions are being incorporated into planning for future events, including improved training and clearer role assignments. This collaborative approach ensured the festival was not only well-organised but also genuinely reflective of the community’s values and aspirations.
