During the 2024/25 financial year, McScience CIC has continued to expand its mission of making science accessible, engaging, and meaningful for learners and communities across Plymouth and beyond. Activities undertaken: Education delivery: Provided regular GCSE and KS3 science tutoring, including online sessions and revision support, reaching learners from a range of educational backgrounds. Curriculum development: Designed primary schemes of work in science, geography, and maths, aligned with national curriculum standards and adapted for outdoor learning contexts. Digital outreach: Grew presence across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, producing daily science content, revision resources, and interactive posts, building a growing online science community. Impact achieved: Engaged thousands of individuals online through daily educational content, widening access to science learning beyond the classroom. Provided targeted academic support to GCSE and KS3 students, helping to build confidence, improve attainment, and reduce barriers to learning. Next Year’s Plans (2025/26) Looking ahead, McScience CIC will continue to grow its educational and community impact by: Expanding community engagement through public science shows and themed workshops designed to inspire whole families. Developing alternative education & wellbeing programmes, combining science with creativity, nature-based learning, and holistic approaches. Launching the McScience Forest School and Wild Lab, creating dedicated outdoor learning spaces that blend science, sustainability, and hands-on exploration. Strengthening safeguarding and volunteering opportunities through a structured skills programme, enabling young people to gain experience while contributing to community projects. Reaching more learners locally through direct teaching, workshops, and alternative provision. Providing inclusive, safe, and supportive spaces for children and young people, especially those with additional needs, to thrive. Bringing science into everyday spaces to inspire families and communities to view STEM as exciting, relevant, and achievable.
