SEN TALK CIC

Directors' report period ended 30 November 2024

The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 30 November 2024

Principal activities of the company

During the financial year ending 30 November 2025, SEN Talk CIC continued to deliver specialist support and advocacy for children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions, such as Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), as well as their families and caregivers. This year marked a significant period of transition for the organisation. SEN Talk relocated its operations from Wandsworth, London, to Hampshire, aiming to deliver the same high-quality support services successfully established in its original borough. In July 2024, in preparation for this move, all face-to-face programmes in London were brought to a close. However, the organisation remained committed to maintaining a level of continuity and care for its community. Throughout the transitional phase, SEN Talk operated remotely, providing online guidance, signposting, and consultation to parents and caregivers. This allowed us to offer consistent support to families who continued to rely on our expertise during the relocation period. Our remote delivery model during this time included: One-to-one check-ins and virtual advice sessions for families navigating the SEN system. Continued support around EHCP processes and educational advocacy. Resource sharing and online signposting via our website and social media platforms. While overall activity was reduced during this transitional year, the organisation maintained its focus on the needs of neurodivergent children and their families, ensuring that community trust was upheld and that groundwork was laid for future delivery in our new location. Looking ahead, SEN Talk CIC. is committed to re-establishing in-person services in Hampshire, drawing from our successful model of early intervention, family support, and inclusive community engagement. 2. Consultation with Community and Beneficiaries Despite reduced service delivery, we remained engaged with our community through digital platforms. Families were consulted informally through online feedback and direct communication, which helped us understand their needs during the transition and informed the design of future services in our new locality. 3. Directors’ Remuneration and Benefits Annaliese Boucher (CEO) received remuneration for work carried out in a staff capacity. This was deemed reasonable and in line with CIC Regulator guidelines. 4. Assets and Asset Lock The organisation continues to operate in full compliance with its community interest obligations. All assets and resources have been and will continue to be used exclusively for the benefit of the community served by SEN Talk CIC. The asset lock remains in place as per the company’s Articles of Association.

Company activities and impact

1. Support for Children with SEN and Neurodivergence SEN Talk CIC. delivered a range of therapeutic and social support programmes tailored to Neurodivergent children and young people, Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), ADHD, and other neurodivergent profiles. Over the year: Over 150 children accessed weekly social skills groups, creative workshops, and mentoring sessions. These activities improved children’s social communication, emotional regulation, and self-esteem, evidenced by both parental feedback and outcome tracking tools. 2. Parent and Carer Support Recognising the crucial role families play, SEN Talk ran regular parent support groups, workshops, and one-on-one consultations: Supported over 100 families, equipping them with practical strategies for managing SEN-related challenges. Delivered workshops on navigating EHCPs, behaviour strategies, and emotional well-being. Reduced feelings of isolation and burnout among parents and carers. 3. Advocacy and Community Engagement SEN Talk acted as a bridge between families and statutory services, helping underrepresented families to access the right educational and health support: Held advocacy meetings with schools and local authorities on behalf of over 40 families. Ran awareness campaigns and events during Neurodiversity Week and Autism Awareness Month, reaching over 1,000 local residents. This increased community understanding and reduced stigma around neurodiversity. 4. Mental Health and Emotional Well-being Children and families benefited from access to: Counselling services and therapeutic sessions, focusing on anxiety, emotional regulation, and trauma-informed care. These interventions contributed to early prevention, reducing the need for more intensive mental health interventions later. 5. Equity and Inclusion SEN Talk focused outreach on marginalised and BAME communities, ensuring support was accessible to families often excluded from mainstream services. Resources and sessions were offered in multiple languages, and cultural sensitivity training was delivered to staff and volunteers. 6. Capacity Building and Partnerships The organisation built partnerships with local schools and charities, enhancing referral pathways and coordinated care. Staff and volunteers received ongoing CPD training, increasing the quality and consistency of support.
