ENGLEFIELD GREEN COMMUNITY HUB CIC

Directors' report period ended 31 January 2025

The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 January 2025

Principal activities of the company

The community interest company (CIC) was formed on 8 January 2024 with the ambition of serving the local community of Englefield Green, Egham. The company's principal activity will be to provide benefit to the residents of Englefield Green Village by providing an improved community space which will offer activities which will be open to all. The improved facility will be able to offer more activities and services than the current building which is in a poor state of repair and also is not easily accessible for wheelchair users. Our aim is to create a building which is accessible to all including the elderly and the disabled. The centre will provide a safe meeting place for community members and offer a range of services including coffee mornings, board games clubs, dance classes, gardening club, community lunches and other activities which residents have expressed an interest in. Some of these activities already take place provided by volunteers but the new building will allow these activities to be offered for more hours and on a more frequent basis and on a larger scale than is currently possible. The company is funded by donations from the public. As the company is a not for profit company, donations collected will be released to the P&L as the funds are spent. The company should therefore break even each year.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

ENGLEFIELD GREEN COMMUNITY HUB CIC

Company Number: 15397099 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 January 2025

Company activities and impact

The CIC has been preparing an application to Your Fund Surrey which has involved extensive research into the demographics and the needs of the community that the redeveloped facility will serve. Architects were engaged to complete initial plans and these were shared with the community at an event and their comments were noted and some changes were then incorporated in the plans. Surveys were conducted and a Planning Application was submitted which was approved. Throughout the period the community has been kept up to date with progress and their ideas and comments have been welcomed. This has led to a community sense of ownership of the project.

Consultation with stakeholders

During the preparation of the grant application extensive consultation has been carried out with the stakeholders including the community, local youth groups and health providers. As a result of these consultations some changes were made to the initial building plans. Ideas for facilities and services were taken into consideration and these have been reflected in the final plans for the layout of the building and also in the proposed initial time table of activities that the facility will offer.
