This has been our fifth year trading as a Community Interest Company. We have supported clients through our online delivery of our seated dancing and through our face-to-face sessions in local communities of both the seated dancing and partner dancing. This year we have also expanded our care sector online seated-dance subscription service which assists those living in the elderly care system or adult social care settings to access wellbeing sessions which they would not have access to and upskilling care staff members in the delivery of these programs. The dance classes are inclusive and accessible to all. They provide a physical and social activity that helps improve the wellbeing of participants, empowering the individual, supporting them with activities they can achieve in a safe and friendly environment. We provide services which are relevant and accessible, according to client needs, regularly evaluating and fine-tuning delivery. The sessions provide movement and support individuals to be more active, boosting musculoskeletal health, aiding recovery and remission, whilst supporting social connections and mental health through group engagement, decreasing loneliness caused by isolation. Our inclusive dance programmes offer a long-term impact on our communities’ health and wellbeing. Building resilience and reducing health inequalities. This year through our online classes, face to face classes and one-off events we have engaged with 853 participants. Delivered 407 classes. We have had 639 online/Zoom class attendances, 818 partner dance class attendances and 3,754 seated dance class attendances. Our yearly total of attendances for all our classes, events and care sector attendances is a grand total of 6,376. The participants ages ranged from 30 years old, up to a client aged 100. 87% of our clients were aged 60yrs+. 86% of our participants were women, 14% were men and 19% of participants had a disability. Our yearly sales income from trade has increased up to 47% of the company’s overall turnover. We also used a Social Impact Tool provided by UnLtd to measure our data. The tool uses a wellbeing quiz to measure key indicators on aspects of participants wellbeing, overall health, loneliness and self confidence. The tool enabled us to work out our social value based on actual feedback from participants at some of our sessions. 36% were meaningfully impacted, showing improvement due to participation. Our average annual social value created per participant is £2,418.10. Improved physical activity value is £8,948.61, Self confidence value is £18,050.40, Social trust value is £6,473.93 and Good overall health value is £46, 324.30. For every pound invested our estimated social value created is £56.93. Our beneficiaries included those who are elderly, bereaved, people with long term health conditions, those going through or recovering from cancer treatment, respiratory conditions, COPD and others suffering with mental health issues such as anxiety or depression. Some participants had learning disabilities, others were physically disabled, reliant on a wheelchair or walking aids for their mobility or have co-ordination issues due to brain injury from stroke or Parkinson’s disease. The stakeholders to Dancing for Health CIC are its Board of Directors, its partners and its end service users/beneficiaries. The directors held board meetings every quarter during this year of operation. These meetings discussed operational updates, financial updates including grant applications and any actions for the board members, future dates of board meetings, and the recording of notes/minutes at the meetings. Our partners this year included, Sheffield United Community Foundation, Chesterfield Royal Hospital, Macmillan, The National Lottery Community Fund, Sport England, People’s Postcode Lottery, EMD UK, UnLtd, Derbyshire Dales District Council, Better Derbyshire Dales Fund, The Talbot Trust, Weston Park Cancer Charity, Places Leisure, Move More Sheffield, Age UK, Sheffcare and Avery Care providers. They have used our services, either grant funded or through purchase of our dance programme for their service users. Dancing for Health CIC had consultations with these partners both prior to and throughout delivery of our programmes. Consultation and feedback with them, helped us to meet their service user’s needs, and identify any modifications/adaptations to the programme that needed to be made. For those partners that funded our services, they were presented with a case for the funding in the first instance and then once the programme was over, they were provided with social impact information if they requested it. Dancing for Health CIC has had really positive results with all our partners and strategic alliances. For response and feedback from our end service users, the monitoring of impact was conducted via face-to-face interview, collecting testimonials, creating case studies and issuing questionnaires for completion by participants of our programmes. We then use this feedback to improve the quality of delivery, but also to consult with beneficiaries relating to future programme content design, implementation and evaluation as well as monitoring the impact and outcomes delivered.
