During the financial year, Kit-Tea Cafe CIC continued to operate Falkirk's first community-based cat cafe, providing a safe, inclusive and calming environment for visitors of all ages and backgrounds. The cafe promotes mental wellbeing, relaxation and social connection through gentle interaction with our resident rescue cats. Many guests visit to reduce stress, anxiety and loneliness, and we have received positive feedback from individuals with additional support needs and mental health challenges who have found the experience therapeutic. Our activities also include volunteer opportunities for local people who wish to gain confidence, experience animal care or contribute to a supportive community space. Volunteers assist with cat care, cleaning and visitor engagement, helping them develop communication and teamwork skills. All revenue generated from entry fees, refreshments and fundraising events was reinvested into the welfare of the cats and the upkeep of the cafe, covering food, veterinary care, enrichment and improvements to the premises. No salaries or dividends were paid to directors or volunteers. Through our daily sessions, themed events and outreach on responsible pet ownership, the cafe has become a positive hub for connection, kindness and community wellbeing within Falkirk.
During the financial year, Kit-Tea Cafe CIC engaged regularly with its visitors, volunteers and local supporters to gather feedback and ideas. Feedback was received through in-person conversations, social media messages, visitor comment cards and informal volunteer meetings. Suggestions from these consultations were used to shape future events, improve customer experience and support the wellbeing of both visitors and our resident cats. The directors maintain an open-door policy, encouraging volunteers and community members to share their views at any time. Through this ongoing dialogue, the cafe continues to adapt its activities to meet community needs and to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.
