Company activities and impact

During the financial year ending January 2025, Emerald Book Club has continued to make a positive and measurable impact within the local and wider community through a range of literary, cultural, and social engagement activities. Our mission to inspire and develop readers, writers, and authors was advanced through regular book club meetings, poetry sessions, and creative writing workshops held both online and in community spaces across Coventry. These activities have provided inclusive opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to connect through reading and storytelling, promoting learning, wellbeing, and social cohesion. To reduce social isolation and promote mental wellbeing, the club launched the Read, Chat and Connect programme bringing residents together through shared reading sessions and discussions in local parks and public spaces. The initiative fostered friendships, encouraged open dialogue, and strengthened community bonds. Emerald Book Club also hosted special events for World Book Day, International Women’s Day, and World Poetry Day, featuring local authors, poets, and performers. These events celebrated creativity, diversity, and the power of literature to unite people across cultures and experiences. We were privileged to attend the People day program at Warwick University in November 2024 where we engaged with members of the university and public for a whole day Additionally, through its Poetic Mondays and Silent Book Club gatherings, the organisation provided accessible, low-cost opportunities for cultural participation and creative expression, supporting both emerging and established writers. Overall, the Club has contributed to community enrichment by: Promoting literacy, reading culture, and lifelong learning. Reducing loneliness through shared cultural and social experiences. Supporting local authors and artists by offering platforms for performance and promotion. Building partnerships with local venues and cultural organisations in Coventry. Emerald Book Club remains committed to enhancing community wellbeing and cultural engagement through inclusive literary and creative initiatives in the year ahead.
