The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 March 2025

Principal activities of the company

During the year 2024 -2025, Give A Few Words delivered over 4,500 uplifting, personalised letters (arts and crafts too) for others. These were posted in Gifts of letter packs for over 750 individuals from care homes, charities, voluntary and community organisations. They reached people who may be experiencing loneliness, physical disabilities, mental health issues, veterans, poverty and homelessness, learning disabilities, cancer, domestic violence, dementia and caring responsibilities. The volunteer team (of which over 1,000 volunteers have contributed this year) derive from a wide variety of backgrounds and include individuals, families, charities, schools, and strategic support from volunteer directors. For many volunteers, they have commented on how writing positive letters has been beneficial to themselves too commenting I am retired so my time is pretty much my own and it brings me such immense pleasure to do this, and Writing letters for Give A Few Words has had such a positive impact on my life. The organisations and recipients who receive the letters describe how the letter packs help to stimulate conversations and how “the kindness and thoughtfulness of the letters, bring joy and warmth to residents’ days, making a meaningful difference to their lives. Give A Few Words has a diverse range of stakeholders; these include all who receive personalised letters, care homes, charities, volunteers and community organisations, educational establishments, health and social care organisations, charities, voluntary organisations and businesses of varying sizes (SMEs to global companies).As well as having regular direct regular contact with volunteers, care homes and other organisations, we also carry out regular surveys. Collaboration with others is fundamental to our work and at the core of what we do is co-production, and this means that we are continually asking for feedback and looking at ways to improve what we deliver. This is undertaken both formally and informally using surveys, evaluation forms, creative opportunities and through conversations. Our work with businesses also supports employee wellbeing in the workplace and organisations individual Corporate Social Responsibility objectives. The Directors of Give A Few Words are grateful to all grant funders, businesses and individuals who have supported our aims and objectives during 2024/2025. We strive in 2025/2026 to build on the solid foundation of this year and continue to reach people who are socially isolated or wish to improve social connections.

Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 31 March 2025 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.

These accounts have been prepared and delivered in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime.

Company activities and impact

Give A Few Words aims to bring the community together and reduce social isolation by facilitating a positive uplifting letter writing project. The organisation also delivers creative workshops and positive events in the community. All activities provide opportunities for social connections and collaboration. During 1st April 2024 – 31st March 2025, Give A Few Words delivered over 4500 uplifting, personalised letters (arts and crafts too) for others. These were delivered in Gift of letter packs for over 750 individuals from care homes, charities, voluntary and community organisations. The organisations and recipients who receive the letters describe how the letter packs :- "help to stimulate conversations” and how “the kindness and thoughtfulness of the letters, bring joy and warmth to the residents’ days, making a meaningful difference to their lives”.

Consultation with stakeholders

Give A Few Words has a diverse range of stakeholders; these include all who receive personalised letters, care homes, charities and community organisations. The volunteer "team" derive from a wide variety of backgrounds and include individuals, families, charities, schools, and strategic support from volunteer directors. It also has regular contact with educational establishments, health and social care organisations, charities, voluntary organisations and businesses of varying sizes (SMEs to global companies). In addition, Give A Few Words also facilitates a regular cross sector network meeting bringing together a wide variety of businesses and organisations from different sectors. As well as regular direct regular contact with volunteers, care homes and other organisations, they also carry out regular surveys. Collaboration with others is fundamental to their work. This means that feedback is asked for (and acted upon). This is undertaken both formally and informally using surveys, evaluation forms, creative opportunities and through regular conversations

Directors' remuneration

The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £13120. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
