Steppersuk CIC continues to support Global Majority communities by providing opportunities to connect with nature, improve mental and physical wellbeing, and build community through outdoor activity. Our mission remains to remove barriers such as financial limitations, lack of information, and cultural disconnect that prevent many from accessing natural spaces. During the 2024/25 financial year, we built on our success from the previous year by expanding our programme of walks and community engagement projects across the UK. We hosted multiple events encouraging participants to explore nature, strengthen their mental health, and form meaningful connections. Key Activities and Achievements Feb 2024 – Jan 2025: - Shropshire Hills (Feb): A return to a previous location, demonstrating strong ongoing engagement and participant loyalty. - Carsington Waters (March): Scenic group walk increasing physical activity and confidence in outdoor environments. - Symonds Yat (April): Popular riverside route encouraging mindfulness and appreciation of natural beauty. - London (May): Urban event focusing on accessibility and inclusion, helping participants explore local green spaces. - Launch of the Sunrise Series (May onwards): A new initiative promoting early-morning activities to support mental wellbeing and encourage all forms of outdoor engagement. - Peak District Walks (Jul & Sept): Two successful events that challenged participants physically while building social bonds and appreciation for nature. In 2024, Steppersuk CIC also partnered with the National Trust and outdoor brand Craghoppers, expanding our reach and credibility within the outdoor community. We successfully launched the Roots & Routes Project, funded by The King Charles Charitable Trust, leading guided walks designed to build cultural connections and environmental awareness. The project encouraged open dialogue about climate change, flora and fauna, and sustainability. Guest speakers joined walks to share expertise and stimulate discussion. Participants were photographed and interviewed to document their experiences, celebrating diversity and collective stewardship of the environment. We also strengthened our volunteer base, providing first aid training and walk leader development opportunities, showcasing organisational growth and sustainability.
Steppersuk CIC regularly engages with participants through feedback forms, social media (notably Instagram), and post-event discussions. Feedback highlighted a strong sense of belonging, increased confidence in outdoor settings, and appreciation for culturally sensitive spaces. We acted on feedback by: - Expanding walk locations based on participant suggestions. - Providing more early-morning and urban walks for accessibility. - Introducing first aid-trained volunteers for added safety. - Developing the Roots & Routes project in response to interest in environmental learning.
The directors received total remuneration of £725 during this financial year. No other costs, benefits, or payments were made to the directors.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
