Get Off Live Comedy was created to provide an independent HR service for the Live comedy community in an industry where HR is patchy and in the most part non-existent, In 2025 Get Off has continued to grow. Website development – We have created an automated online membership portal to ensure an easier way for our community to join as there had been some flaws in the signing up process that had been previously done manually. We have received positive feedback on this change and now it’s simple to send a link to potential new community members. We have also automated the initial induction training, an essential piece of training before the community member receives their sexual harassment policy. This training ensures they are compliant and have a base knowledge of the legislation on Sexual Harassment and their responsibilities. This had previously been a requirement before they were able to sign up and pay membership, these processes have now been combined and streamlined. The Membership fee has now been banded and is payable before the above 2 step; it is still means tested and starts at £12.00 per year and is in 4 bands. The highest band for clubs with bricks and mortar is £750.00 per year. This model is simpler to automate than the penny on a ticket model and has been well received. Ambassadors This year we have started to pilot an ambassador programme. It has been identified through consultation that comedians would benefit from local knowledge of their circuit. We have responded to this with an ambassador programme. The ambassador will act as a link and a mentor to comedians in their area and strengthen the visibility of Get Off. They will be trained and given support by Get Off and we are in the process of designing a training package including handling disclosure and bystander training. 4 Ambassadors have received training on Worker's protection act, and The Equality act We have appointed a volunteer lead in Wales, and the programme will initially pilot in Wales and the Northwest of England. Volunteers Get Off relies almost solely on volunteers. This year we have strengthened our volunteer pool. Administration – we now have dedicated admin support who has improved our work rate and efficiency. HR – we have moved to a model of HR that makes us financially sustainable. We have been able to source volunteer hr and for compliance we have also outsourced additional HR at a pay as you go rate which at a quarter of the cost. The outsourced HR has additional benefits of being able to take on more complex case at a higher level as and when required. Volunteers have rights under law and we have reviewed and put in place insurances and are creating a volunteer handbook alongside our HR company to ensure the Ambassadors and volunteers are looked after during their time with Get Off.
The Stakeholders in Get Off are the Members who pay a means tested fee to receive the benefits of sexual harassment training and advice. The Victim/Survivors who we support through the process and the beneficiaries are the live comedy circuit in the uk who are benefitting through a safer circuit. A Town Hall event was held in Yorkshire with members and non-members in response to concerns in an increase in reports to offer support and advice. This included anonymous feedback and an opportunity to ask questions. July 2025 Ambassador Consultations: We have had held a number of these throughout the year to gauge interest and to listen to what comedians want and need. October 2024, June 2025, August 2025.
