Promoted the value of slowing down with dogs by maintaining a *website and social media (5.5K members on Facebook group) platforms for teaching, sharing, and ‘showing the right thing’ and the importance of dog ethogram by focusing on sharing images or videos that reflect our movement’s mission and aims. Created learning opportunities for dog guardians to experience self-development by offering a more intimate group of people, a place to connect and learn on our PATREON group. This platform provides almost all of our operating costs, with 30 members paying us £160 per month. We conduct a monthly ‘SLOW Monthly’ Friday Chat where we talk about science and the human/dog relationship with monthly content such as ‘Slice of [dog] Science’ and ‘Do You Believe in Dog?’ Hosted two film screenings of our film ‘What is the Slow Dog Movement,’ with a Q&A after each film showing. Gave a talk on ‘Don’t Sweat It!, Dogs, Exercise, and the Dog Ethogram.’ The location was the Public Library on Gabriola Island, BC and the dates were Feb 24th, 2024, and Feb 15th, 2025. Upheld the highest level of advocacy for dog welfare via our downloadable ‘philosophy’ and ‘brochure’ [now available in twelve languages] while also supporting and providing empathy for the humans who care for them to the best of our ability have created a firm foundation of trust for the work of the Slow Dog Movement C.I.C. By providing a safe and respectful forum for discussion over the use of dog equipment, training methods, the dog ethogram, appropriate exercise, and the basic needs of dogs amongst many other topics, our social media platforms, website, educational and in person events. Maintained and regularly updated our *website and store featuring our branded merchandise to raise awareness of our philosophy and money for future educational projects developed by our C.I.C. Produced our yearly ‘Fan Calendar’ featuring followers and members photos, sold in our slowwear.store. Offered for free download the first two years editions of our Quarterly ZINE on GUMROAD. Offered for free listening, many full episodes of our ‘A Dog’s Pace’ Podcast on SPOTIFY. Allow people to learn about what we do, be educated about our philosophy, and hopefully support us in the future by offering some free content.
The stakeholders are the co-directors of the Slow Dog Movement C.I.C.: Laura Dobb, Kath Hardington, Tanya Vishniakova and Kirsty Falk. The co-directors engage in regular meetings and regular correspondence via messenger, Zoom, and email. We engage with our social media group members via Facebook (and messenger), Instagram, Twitter, email, telephone and in person to gather and respond to feedback regularly. Currently, Laura Dobb corresponds on a weekly basis with our PATREON members, and both Laura Dobb and Tanya Vishniakova hold monthly online informal and community building video meetings with our PATREON members. There have been no other formal consultations with users, focus groups or outside bodies as of the past tax year.
