COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

FRESHEFIED CIC

Company Number: SC735893 (Scotland)

Year Ending: 30 June 2025

Company activities and impact

During the financial year ending 30 June 2025, Freshefied CIC continued to build community and wellbeing among Black students and young people in Scotland. Our work this year focused on creating spaces that support physical health, connection and access to practical resources. - Our Afro Spin classes made fitness more approachable and culturally inclusive. These sessions encouraged students to stay active in a space that celebrates identity, helping many improve both their physical and mental wellbeing. - Through our community food pantry, we supported students and young people facing financial difficulties by providing free access to groceries and essentials, easing some of the pressure around the cost of living. - Our mentorship workshops and Funding Hub support gave the students we support practical tools to apply for funding, manage finances, and explore opportunities for personal and academic growth.

Consultation with stakeholders

During the year, Freshefied engaged closely with its stakeholders, primarily Black students, the wider Afro Caribbean community and the student groups we partnered with, including African and Caribbean Societies at Strathclyde and Glasgow University, and Black Women at Edinburgh. We consulted them through one-to-one conversations, feedback forms, social media polls, and discussions during workshops and events, giving participants the chance to share what support they needed most. This feedback directly shaped our activities: - Students highlighted the need for accessible wellbeing sessions, which led us to schedule Afro Spin classes at times and locations that worked best for participants. - Participants requested practical personal development support, prompting us to focus workshops on skills-building, networking, and one-to-one guidance to access funding for those in need. -Feedback also emphasised the importance of community and connection, so we designed workshops and sessions to foster peer support and a sense of belonging.
