Directors' report period ended 31 January 2025

The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 January 2025

Principal activities of the company

Pride Wide CIC formed in 2023. Our purpose is to benefit the public by creating: A better understanding of the lives of LGBTQI+ people in the general population, shifting public opinion in favour of LGBTQI+ inclusion. The provision of information to empower LGBTQI+ people around their freedom, equality, inclusion, visibility, health and wellbeing. Better and more informed discussion about LGBTQI+ people, issues and needs in all areas of life including among organisations, businesses and decision makers. Greater skills among people communicating about the LGBTQI+ community, including journalists and content creators and campaigners. The promotion of unity and mutual respect within the LGBTQI+ community and between LGBTQI+ people and wider society. In 2024, our activities remained limited. We delivered the second year of a project fully sponsored by Barefoot Wine (EJ Gallo). This developed on the 2023 survey we did of the experiences of LGBTQIA+ people holding hands in public, how this made them feel and the barriers they faced in doing so (for example, experiencing hatred or abuse). In 2024 we commissioned social media content creators to talk about this on their platforms, generating further positive conversations in support of LGBTQIA+ people. This raised the issue in a relatable way for people and generated an estimated reach of at least 2million viewers. We also provided consultation to an LGBTQIA+ recruitment company, myGwork. Meanwhile, Pride Wide CIC continued to support the directors as they went about establishing Pride Wide Trust as a charity in England and Wales. This involved a significant amount of work responding to questions from the Charity Commission as well as the building of the board of Pride Wide Trust and the volunteer teams to support the organisation. The Charity Commission granted charity status for Pride Wide Trust on 28 June 2024.

Consultation with stakeholders

As we have established Pride Wide CIC and worked to establish Pride Wide Trust, we have engaged stakeholders from the LGBTQIA+ community in the UK and around the world These have included philanthropic partners, business leaders (particularly those with an interest in LGBTQIA+ diversity and inclusion efforts), and a variety of charities and LGBTQIA+ campaigners. For the most part, this has been in the form of one-to-one conversations either online or in person, mostly for an hour in duration. These have focused on the need for Pride Wide CIC and Pride Wide Trust, current LGBTQIA+ community needs, and our various strategies and plans to make positive change. In 2024, we estimate we had such conversations with over 200 people. In many cases, we had multiple such conversations with these people. Pride Wide CIC only had two, formal directors who were the organisation's founders. However, we kept the board of trustees of Pride Wide Trust and informal advisory boards of volunteer stakeholders informed of our activities and progress. In addition we held a 100-person stakeholders’ networking event in 2024, and two dinners for key stakeholders, both with 20 guests attending. These enabled us to inform stakeholders about our activities and plans and seek feedback in direct conversations with them during the events.

Directors' remuneration

The two directors received a total of £32,320 for the 12 months from 1 February 2024 to 31 January 2025. The directors had agreed with the trustees of Pride Wide Trust that their remuneration package should be £60,000 per director per annum in the period of 1 February 2024 to 28 February 2024 and should be £80,000 per director per annum from 1 March 2024 onwards. However, the directors agreed that the balancing amount of £109,347 should be paid in the future, when company funds allow. This has been included in our accounts as a liability falling due within five years. The directors received no other remuneration, compensation or benefits.
