Insight Society Services CIC supports blind and partially sighted people to become more independent, take part in social activities and technology training through improving accessibility. We support people with benefits advice and emotional support. We run social groups and support women with sight impairments and on low incomes. Our Service users are more confident and take part in activities, are better off financially and have improved mental well-being. Through social groups, our service users have made friends and are less isolated. They meet people similar to them to share their experiences and concerns. Service users have been trained how to use their own kitchens independently, including equipment such as a 'talking' microwave and air fryers, etc. They have also been trained to be more independent on their smartphones through accessibility features, which give them more privacy and independence as they do not need to rely on someone else to access their bank accounts etc.
We have company directors, employees and volunteers alongside with external community groups who support us with usage of there premises to hold our social groups. We have received grants from the National Lottery (Awards for All) and the Smallwood Trust's Women's Urgent Fund to support our Service Users. We have one-to-one meetings with our stakeholders on a regular basis where we discuss our company’s goals and how we are going to achieve our goals. Many external companies and organisations have reached out to us as they refer service users to us to offer them support on some of the things we specialise in. We all work together as one big team to support anyone we can.
