COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

RED ROOTS INCUBATOR COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 13137693 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 January 2025

Company activities and impact

During period Jan 2024 and Jan 2025 Red Roots Incubator CIC supported community organising efforts at Clapton Commons CIC by establishing collaboration to run Creative Jam, a series of participatory events designed to provide knowledge exchange, on-the-job training, and income opportunities for local creatives. Due to unsuccessful fundraising efforts, all activities during the period were delivered on a voluntary basis by the Red Roots Incubator team. Consequently, the company recorded no financial transactions during the year.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company's stakeholders are local creatives and residents of Hackney and wider London. The directors developed their approach through community organising experience and direct engagement with local residents. We conducted consultation through questionnaires and short interviews with community members to understand their needs and aspirations. Additionally, we employed applied theatre techniques, particularly Playback Theatre, to engage participants who typically lack agency or face barriers to conventional consultation methods. This combined approach enabled us to identify gaps in provision for local creatives around knowledge exchange, training opportunities, and income generation. The insights gathered directly informed the development of Creative Jam, our participatory events programme designed to address these community needs locally.
