Principal activities of the company

Prickly Edge Hedgehog Rescue C.I.C specialise in the care and rehabilitation of sick and injured hedgehogs and facilitates their release back into the wild. We work under the guidance of a knowledgable and experienced team of exotic vets based in Huddersfield and this allows us to support several veterinary groups across Wakefield, Leeds and surrounding areas, by providing advice and support to their staff and by providing ongoing care for hedgehogs that require a longer period of hospitalisation. We can care for up to 80 hedgehogs on site and have a fantastic team of volunteers who help look after them. We welcome students requiring work experience to support their applications to study veterinary medicine at university. We also host several students on work placement who are studying animal care at college, as well as younger volunteers working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Awards or who are home-educated. We provide work experience for young adults with learning disabilities, who attend with support from job coaches. This experience builds their confidence and helps them develop skills for employment. During the last year we have supported 380 hedgehogs. We have also provided 22 Hedge-ucation sessions for schools and other children's groups, with a total of 620 attendees.
