Company activities and impact

Description of Activities and Community Benefit The Academy of Success CIC operates as a business and enterprise training hub based in Woolwich, South East London. Our mission is to build success stories, one community at a time, empowering individuals to start and grow sustainable businesses while gaining the skills, confidence, and qualifications needed to thrive. Over the financial year, we have delivered a wide range of community-focused programmes and services, including: Business Start-Up and Enterprise Training: Delivered multiple 4- and 6-week enterprise programmes supporting unemployed adults, aspiring entrepreneurs, and care leavers to develop viable business ideas, business plans, and social media strategies. Accredited and Employability Pathways: Offered Highfield and AQA-accredited qualifications in areas such as Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Digital Skills to enhance employability and industry readiness. Youth Enterprise Programmes: Piloted innovative enterprise pathways for 14–19-year-olds, providing hands-on learning through creative business simulations such as nail and lash branding, digital product creation, and social media marketing. Community Collaboration: Partnered with housing associations including Peabody, Clarion Futures, and Berkeley Foundation to deliver funded programmes and workshops for local residents. Business Support Services: Provided one-to-one business coaching, business plan creation, and social media management services, enabling start-ups to access practical support and mentoring. Our work has directly benefited residents across London and nationally through both in-person and online delivery. The Academy continues to prioritise confidence-building, practical enterprise skills, and community empowerment. Consultation with the Community We maintain strong two-way communication with our learners and wider community through: Active WhatsApp groups connecting over 100 past graduates for peer support and updates. Continuous feedback after each programme to shape future delivery. Collaboration with community partners, schools, and housing associations to identify local needs. Graduate involvement as mentors, facilitators, and service providers within the Academy ecosystem. This community-driven approach ensures our offer remains relevant, inclusive, and responsive to emerging needs. Use of Surplus and Asset Lock All surpluses have been fully reinvested into expanding community benefit. This includes: Subsidising free and discounted training places for low-income learners. Funding digital course creation and marketing to increase accessibility to training. Supporting graduate-led initiatives and providing workspace access at the Academy hub. No assets have been transferred other than for community benefit, and the CIC’s asset lock remains in place in accordance with statutory requirements. Partnerships and Collaborations Key partners and collaborators this year include: Peabody, Clarion Futures, and Berkeley Foundation – for enterprise and employability delivery. PureGym Thamesmead – providing exposure for start-up fitness and wellness businesses. Local schools and youth organisations – supporting enterprise awareness sessions. Independent trainers and service providers – delivering accredited and specialist workshops under the Academy’s quality framework. These partnerships have extended our reach, impact, and ability to deliver high-quality, accredited community learning. Future Plans In the next financial year, the Academy of Success will: Launch its Alternative Provision Centre offering business and enterprise pathways for 14–19-year-olds. Expand the Certified Skills Hub to provide more accredited sector bundles (Food Industry, Beauty Industry, Cleaning Industry, and Digital Marketing Essentials). Strengthen national delivery by running programmes in the Midlands and North of England. Continue to grow its network of community trainers, associates, and partners to maximise social impact and sustainability. The Academy of Success CIC remains committed to empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and building an ecosystem of businesses supporting businesses.
