Principal activities of the company

Nigerian Community Wigan Borough (NCWB) CIC, an organisation dedicated to creating a vibrant and inclusive community for Nigerians in Wigan. Our primary goal is to foster unity, celebrate our rich cultural heritage, and provide mutual support, all while making positive contributions to the broader Wigan community. Importantly, our activities and projects are open and beneficial to everyone in the Wigan borough, not just Nigerians. Below are some of the activities we've engaged in that benefitted the community in the last financial year: - Black History Month Celebration - We hosted the community members to celebrate black history month. The event also featured the Mayor of Wigan, where she welcomed new members of our community and buttressed the fact that the Wigan community is open to everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or any other differences. In the event we recognised and celebrated members of our community who have been outstanding. It was a good event to also bring families together - We continuously hold sports and mental health sessions for men in our community with attendance between 20 and 40. - We conducted seminars on entrepreneurship, career development, job applications and educational opportunities. - We did a clean-up campaign where members of our communities came out in mass to pick rubbish and clean up Wigan city centre and it's environment - We organised an "Hate Crime" Event to create awareness on what hate crime is, how to respond, and how to report. We invited the Greater Manchester Police for this event and it did benefit a lot of our community memebers - We have successfully provided crucial support to new migrants in the borough by helping them to settle and integrate smoothly. We assist by offering useful information for accommodation, provide a platform for others to give household items and other needs. - Based on support from other organisations, we were able to give away 40 used laptops to students and other members of our community who needed them.
