Highland Livestock Guardians (CIC) is a non-profit trial project, based in Cairngorms National Park. We are trialling the breeding, distribution and monitoring of livestock guardian dogs, with the aim of mitigating potential conflicts between wildlife and livestock farming communities in the UK. The project continues to have three directors. The trial has not yet started, as no dogs have been distributed and no income has been taken, through donations or otherwise. The company has set up a website, donation platform and bank account, and is in the process of applying for funding and identifying farms and crofts to participate in the trial. We currently have a breeding pair of Maremma sheepdogs and one of their offspring from a litter they produced prior to the start of the trial. The dogs are living with a herd of sheep in a fenced paddock.
