COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

PANGAEA SCULPTORS' CENTRE COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 08424651 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 28 February 2025

Company activities and impact

Pangaea Sculptors’ Centre supports artists, communities and the wider sector to make sculpture that transforms places and society. We do this through three strands of activity, Educate, Advocate and Fabricate. This year we focused on developing our Educate strand, piloting “Sculpture as a Tool for Wider Learning", a schools programme developed with the Future Teaching Trust. Through the creation of site-specific artworks, pupils explored social, historic and geographical research, community consultation, design and making processes. The programme connected art to all STEAM subjects, introducing practical and creative skills transferable to industries such as engineering, film/TV, digital and construction. Delivered in three Coventry schools, it encouraged confidence, teamwork and problem-solving while strengthening links between schools and their local environment. We also ran “Adventures in Materials and Space”, a children’s holiday sculpture course that promoted hands-on creativity and spatial learning. Alongside this, we continued to support artists with professional development, mentoring and fabrication support, and to engage local communities around our Coventry base and across Warwickshire through participatory sculpture activity.

Consultation with stakeholders

Pangaea’s stakeholders include artists, curators, educators, collectors, critics, and others engaged in sculpture and three-dimensional practice, as well as communities and audiences who benefit from public engagement with the arts. Our work also increasingly supports children and young people, ad-dressing barriers to participation and ensuring the sector reflects the diversity of society. We consult regularly with our artist patrons, Thomas J Price and Heather Phillipson, who act in an advisory capacity, helping us remain responsive to the changing needs of artists and the wider public. We actively evaluate our programmes through both qualitative and quantitative feedback from artists, partners, funders and audiences. This learning informs our future programme design and delivery. Much of our work is now delivered collaboratively, and we exchange feedback and share learning with partner organisations throughout each project. We also engage stakeholders informally through attendance at exhibitions, talks and workshops. This year we held a major Visioning Event with 150 artists in Hackney Wick to explore their future needs ahead of the opening of our new London sculpture centre, ensuring that artists’ voices continue to shape Pangaea’s direction and community impact.

Directors' remuneration

Directors remuneration is a line item in the company accounts and for the year was £39,270.
