During our first year, we hosted a community jumble sale, which enabled us to connect with local community and organisations, forging links for future work and engaging with stakeholders whilst providing opportunities for local people to purchase preloved affordable items. We also hosted an Arts & Crafts fair, to showcase local artists and share the benefits of creativity for wellbeing. We hosted a number of free online workshops and groups. Our engagement and consultation at these events, as well as building a social media community, enabled us to successfully apply for grant funding to provide creative wellbeing workshops in the local community during year 2.
During our first year, we have consulted with the local people, local organisations and clubs, and stakeholders to listen to what they feel they want and need in the local community. We did this through surveys, games, and conversations at events, workshops, and online posts and polls. We have built a social media community via Facebook, focused on self-care, and consulted with this group too. We also took part in local stakeholder events. All this consultation has led to strong relationships with the community, specifically the local home education community, parents, children, carers, older people, and creatives in our community - listening to them enabled us to successfully apply for grant funding for future projects that meet their needs and are wanted by the community.
