COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

COMPUTING AND PROGRAMMING ACADEMY CIC

Company Number: 13520692 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 July 2025

Company activities and impact

During the financial year (August 2024 – July 2025), Computing and Programming Academy (CAPA) CIC continued to make a meaningful difference in the community by providing accessible online tuition and digital skills training for children, young people, and adults from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds, including providing in-person Coding Club for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) young people. Through our online English, Maths, Computing Skills, and Coding tuition, we supported over 130 learners across Southwark and other London boroughs. These learners gained academic confidence, developed essential digital literacy, and overcame barriers to education and employment. CAPA’s in-person Coding Club for SEND young people (aged 16+) remained one of our most impactful initiatives, with over 256 regular participants improving teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. For adults, CAPA delivered English and Computing Skills training to over 30 participants, helping improve language proficiency, digital inclusion, and employability. These sessions also played a vital role in reducing isolation and improving well-being, particularly for individuals unable to attend in-person training due to personal circumstances. Overall, CAPA’s work has empowered children, young people, and adults from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds, improving access to learning, boosting confidence, and creating new pathways for education, employment, and community connection.

Consultation with stakeholders

Computing and Programming Academy (CAPA) CIC regularly consults with its key stakeholders to ensure our activities continue to meet community needs and deliver meaningful impact. Our main stakeholders include students, parents, adult learners, volunteers, partner organisations, and funders. Consultation takes place through feedback surveys, one-to-one discussions, and group evaluations conducted after an activity. We also hold informal feedback sessions with parents and students to gather views on course content, teaching methods, and accessibility. Based on the feedback received, CAPA has taken several actions to improve service delivery. For example, parents requested that coding activities remain computer-based rather than paper-based, which led us to adapt our Coding Club sessions to include more practical, hands-on learning. Adult learners highlighted the need for flexible scheduling and additional support with digital skills, which resulted in extended session times and simplified training materials. Any changes or updates made to our activities are communicated promptly to stakeholders through posters, WhatsApp messages, and email updates, ensuring transparency and continued engagement. Through continuous stakeholder consultation, CAPA ensures its programmes remain inclusive, responsive, and community-driven, reflecting the real needs of the people we serve.
