Company activities and impact

Servitude Centre CIC is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, established for the benefit of the community of Stoke-on-Trent, the United Kingdom, and humanity as a whole. Our mission is to provide holistic, ethically-grounded services that foster mental resilience, financial stability, knowledge, and moral character within the community. All profits are reinvested into the CIC to ensure its intergenerational sustainability and enduring community service. The centre’s activities have benefited the community in the following ways: During this financial year, Servitude Centre CIC has actively pursued its community mission through the following core activities: Mental Health Service: We delivered evidence-based psychotherapeutic support, primarily utilising Cognitive Emotive Behavioural Therapies (CEBT) integrated with Islamic spiritual principles. This service was designed to address a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, work-related stress, and cultural challenges. Research in Humanities: Our organisation conducted and disseminated academic research focused on Islamic Social Finance, specifically exploring solutions for intergenerational charity, poverty alleviation, and sustainable philanthropy. This research was carried out by field experts and made freely available to the public. Book Publishing: Directly supporting our research mandate, we operated a solution-focused publishing service to ensure widespread knowledge dissemination. All publications were made open access or available at minimal cost to remove barriers to information. Financial Guidance: We provided personalised financial guidance based on Islamic ethos, helping individuals manage their finances according to their personal circumstances and goals. This service was offered free or at heavily subsidised rates to the target community. Information Service: We curated and disseminated beneficial information and practical knowledge aimed at human development, with a particular focus on providing metabolic counselling and practical Islamic religious guidance for daily living. Societal Education: We conducted educational trainings on human development and have laid the groundwork for future ventures into primary, secondary, and potentially tertiary education, with an emphasis on integrating quality education with moral and ethical development inspired by Islamic ethics. The company's activities have therefore generated significant, measurable benefits for our defined community, aligning with our CIC purposes: Enhanced Mental Wellbeing: By providing accessible, culturally-sensitive counselling and therapy (pro bono or heavily subsidised), we directly addressed a recognised gap in mental health services in Stoke-on-Trent. This has helped individuals overcome personal obstacles, improve their self-esteem, and enhance their potential in academic, career, and family life, thereby strengthening the overall social fabric of the community. A unique addition to our therapeutic service is metabolic psychotherapy which we feel holds high psychotherapeutic promise. Advancement of Knowledge and Solutions: Our research into Islamic Social Finance provides actionable insights for charities, philanthropic organisations, and policymakers. By making this research freely available, we are empowering a wider range of actors to tackle poverty and establish sustainable charitable institutions, thereby extending the philanthropic base within the local and wider UK community. Increased Financial Literacy and Stability: Our pro-bono financial guidance service empowered individuals to gain control over their personal finances, reducing financial anxiety and promoting economic resilience. This has a direct and positive knock-on effect on the mental health of the individuals and families served. Moral and Educational Development: Through our information services and educational trainings, we provided the community with access to knowledge that fosters ethical living and personal development. Our plans for future educational institutions aim to fill a critical need for quality education grounded in strong moral values, benefiting future generations. Promotion of Social Equity: The core operating principle of providing services pro bono publico or at the "barest minimum" cost ensures that support is accessible to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged segments of the community, promoting greater social equity and inclusion. Going forward, we intend to continue to provide services in line with our CICs objective and we hope to be more impactful in the coming year. Thank you
