The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 28 February 2025

Principal activities of the company

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITY In the year of 24-25 Roadblock fulfilled their community objects by: Providing professional events at low cost where we shared the joy of Bike power. Worked with over 40 partner organisations to build resilience and connection in our organising community. Coordinated and took part in events and projects with people from all backgrounds, especially focusing on Active Transport, Off-grid Power and Social Justice, and supporting inclusivity at all our events. We helped the community of Armley and New Wortley to build their own bike powered machine, the ‘Armley Roadblock’ a bike powered stage. This machine was built in partnership with 16 partner organisation and involved 1800 local people across the Ideation, Design, Fabrication, and now use of the invention. Event Names: Yorkshire Feminist Collective, Leeds Marathon, Armley Bike Project, Permaculture Festival, Quiet Pride, Becketts Park Picnic, Woodhouse Council Engagement, Gledhow Valley Woods, Northern Green Gathering, Apple Day, Yorkshire Marathon, Halloween Ride-around, Dixon’s Open Day, Christmas Ridearound, Ceilidh, University of Becketts Fashion, Royal Park Gardens Events, City Planning Event, Little London Community Day, Harehills Unity Day Our events have reached over 30,000 people in this year, during the provision of our CAL Small grants project we provided events at a cost per head of £0.36 (36p), meaning that we were able to supply events at a substantial fraction of the cost of commercial organisations. All partners who we worked with have recommended us and in most cases we have been invited back already to collaborate at a deeper level.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discount, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes.

    Other accounting policies

    Taxation Taxation for the period comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted. Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date. Deferred tax Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date. Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the period end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

Consultation with stakeholders

We completed a full consultation with 2400 local people in Armley. We consulted with peers individuals and groups in Leeds to refine our service offer.

Directors' remuneration

The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £1780. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
