East Grinstead Community Bonfire completed its second free to the community event since being formed in 2022. In the year 2024/25 we have gained the reputation of being group of people who not only put on a spectacular free event for anyone from the community on the third Saturday in October, we also help out at other community events. This year we were delighted to be asked by East Grinstead Town Council to take control of the towns beacon and lay on a torch lit guard of honour for Town Mayor at the D-Day 80 commemorations in June. We also assisted by marshalling at the three music event also organised by East Grinstead Town Council. During our event in October we collected money from the spectators during the evening. Half of the total collected went to our chosen local charity of the year. In 2024 we were pleased to give this money to East Grinstead Defibrillators, a worthy cause that also benefits the community of East Grinstead, The other half collected all went towards the funds we require to run another free event in October 2025.
Regular meeting are held with with our committee and our members. We are in regular contact with East Grinstead Town Council, Mid Sussex District Council, Mid Sussex safety advisory group (SAG) and other interested parties. We post regular social media updates advising the public on the activities of EGCBonfire.
